I heard on the radio this morning that apparently big "Bridget Jones" style pants are now all the rage and flying off the shelves whereas thongs are decreasing in sales ?

That cannot be true surely ?? What about the all important VPL ? I cannot abide knicker lines, even when wearing jeans you still get them.

Urgh no, thongs all the way for me forever.

god no to thongs, I love my big pants - the shorts style ones anyway. No vpl here either, you don't get it with the shorts because they are cut low at the bottom (iyswim). Also a deep lace trim helps stop vpl too.

This isn't news really though is it - welcome to the silly season...

FunnyLittleFrog · 05/08/2010 12:42

M&S do great no VPL shorts. Thongs are vile, never got on with them.

I wouldn't be suprised if big pants are back though. Goes with the boyfriend / utility fashion stuff going on at the moment. Went in Gap yesterday and all the new season stuff is massive, baggy and droopy.

sparkle1977 · 05/08/2010 12:46

Well I didn't think it was "new" news either as I thought big pants have been in for a while now.

I have tried and tried to get on with shorts style undies but find they ride up at the front and chafe!! Argh.

I find these a bit more acceptable.
Far too much aging butt cheek on display with a thong for me

TwasEverThus · 05/08/2010 21:20

Butt jowls here, Morag!

FindingMyMojo · 05/08/2010 21:47

ah I've been wanting to talk pants for a while now. I used to do thongs but somewhere in the mid 30's they lost their appeal - can't imagine why?

so where does everyone get their pants these days? i seriously need some new ones & I'm going to treat myself v soon. I usually go for the packs of 5 M&S do. I prefer cotton. Are M&S still top of the heap for your daily knickers? Or have they been usurped?

FindingMyMojo · 05/08/2010 21:48

morag they look nice but threaten to ride up the butt do they not?

CMOTdibbler · 05/08/2010 21:53

I wear these - they don't slip or ride up, and no VPL.

moragbellingham · 06/08/2010 15:16

these Freyas are my currently faves. With these Freyas too.
They are obviously big pants but I like 'em and they stretch ALOT to encompass all butt jowlWink. Trouble is the price!

And yes, the M&S ones do ride up a bit, not congregate, but no more than in the pics. I don't notice it after a while Confused

I think I read something similar to this the other day but it was french knickers instead of big pants! I do like a french knicker myself; you can get some cute styles/designs but you still feel covered up. On fat days though, forget big pants, I go straight for the control pants!

I love a nice big pair of pantsBlush

I gave up on thongs after having Ds1 nearly 8 years ago, I just couldn't get used to them again. Also I need a high topped pant these days as I have a big scar on my tummy now which can be irritated by low cut pants.

I can't wear shorts style pants either, my bum seems to eat themBlush

Anyway, given my extensive stretchmarks and overhang from 2 abdominal surgeries, I figure wearing big pants is the least of my style worriesGrin

traceybath · 06/08/2010 16:49

I like the brazilian style that most shops do nowadays.

Thongs are very 1990's Wink

But you know - wear whats comfortable and you feel good in.
