I rather like this although have not tried it on yet. Do you think there is any way of making it okay for A/W work wear, or is it only suitable for a sandals, vest top and denim jacket sort of look?

Thanks!

mmmmmmmm not sure which category I wd put this into actually, think the black is just not right for day wear, and think if you did get it then you really could only wear it with sandals. x

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 23:31

It's not black but dark grey. I often wear black as day wear though and can't think why one wouldn't - is there another bloody rule I've missed? Thanks for the comments though.

Any more?

oops sorry sounds like i've upset you - did not mean that black is not ok for day wear, just thought this particular skirt was not dayish iykwim - but that is just my opinion! x

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 23:45

You've not upset me!

I'm just a bit confused because they are selling it in their 'suits and tailoring' section, although it says weekend wear too. I just like the slouch of it and thought it would be comfortable and it reminds me of skirts I wore as a teenager!

Had to come just to say I love the OP's name!!

now what's all this about skirts - maybe I will have to read the thread now

I really like it. It might look good with wedges, and a long sleeve t-shirt top? maybe with a smartish jacket, depending on how formal your work wear needs to be...

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 23:55

Thanks Gigglewitch. Jacket is a sore point, as we HAVE to wear jackets from September. What sort of jacket would you suggest? I was wondering about a silky sort of soft blazer thing? Not that I possess such an item!.

now I know sod-all about fashion, so take what I say with suitable caution, but given that we'd both probably go for a denim jacket style look, I've got a darkish-red jacket in fairly soft fabric that's a slightly smarter version but along the same lines iyswim, with proper lapels and stuff, but quite short and with pockets and buttons similar to a denim. Oh God, I'm babbling.
Anyway, will look for a link or something.

What about the jersey jackets that New look and the like are bursting with atm? they have some nice colours, a silvery grey and peachy colours.

BelligerentGhoul · 05/08/2010 00:07

Yes - the denim jacket shape sounds nice, although I'm not sure if work would 'allow' that. Am so going to push the jacket boundaries though.

Do you think that jersey on top AND on the bottom (well viscose but v similar) would be a bit much?

Off to bed with Julian Barnes now but thank you both for your help/ideas.

bargain! maybe too slim-fiting as a look tho iykwim
I reckon I'd want this!

wubblybubbly · 05/08/2010 00:21

It would look great with some low heeled boots in winter.

Something like

these

Or if you're into killer heels these are pretty awesome, but they'd cripple me.

gigglewitch, those jackets are amazing and super cheap too!

BelligerentGhoul · 05/08/2010 10:45

I like those ankle boots but not the clunky heel - it would be a v early nineties grunge look combined with those!

Those heeled boots would render me incapable, I think.

Both jackets are bargains but I forgot to mention that I look hideous in cream/beige.
