So today I bought something that I swore I would never wear after my Goth days ended

I have insulted this item on here for years but today I gave in and bought one.

A black maxi dress, in the sale from The White Company (not on website anymore so no link). Tis v nice and I think I managed to not look too much like an Adams family reject in it.

Now - how to wear it in different ways please?

I am 5'2 and about 9 stone 4, so am nearly two Kylies!

On a hanger I've layered the grey and white vest, the dress and the grey cardigan I linked to earlier - well, it looks nice on the hanger anyway!

I do have a denim shirt (if I can steal it back from dd1) so I will try that too.

owl is here

LetThemEatCake · 04/08/2010 20:53

gosh only just looked back at all of the other owls!! very nice. But none of them were the owl

thatsnotmymonkey · 04/08/2010 20:58

PMSL plumskys at Kylie not actually being a proper person!!

I think Kylie actually weighs in at one live owl.

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 21:25

at Kylie = one owl.

At least the owl was found.
I passed Kylie coming out of a loo many years ago - she looked like a child

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 23:53

Well, I still sometimes (although only v occasionally now) get mistaken for one of the pupils at work - but normally only from behind now!

Okay - am wearing it with the vest and grey cardigan. Both dds and dp say it looks good! I will test it out in a 'yummy' (gha) coffee shop and Waitrose later.

Bet you look great

I lurve a nice maxi.

BelligerentGhoul · 05/08/2010 11:17

Awww thank you. 'Great' is not a word I'd ever use to describe myself but I'm happy to settle for 'nice' or 'not like a total moron' most days!

BG- how is the length? Have you altered it, or is it okay?

Don't put yourself down- you do look great- you have some fantastic outfits!

BelligerentGhoul · 05/08/2010 11:47

I haven't altered it and it is very long, almost touching the floor so it sort of puddles at the bottom. It feels like I used to in the 90s when I was wallowing in going to Mission gigs!

Thank you btw.

A puddling maxi - where's ShowofHands - that was her dream

montmartre · 05/08/2010 14:10

Oh- good point- that is exactly what she was after...

kayah · 05/08/2010 14:17

I would wear it with folky bag
however this may not be for everyone

BelligerentGhoul · 05/08/2010 16:23

I think SOH wanted a more fitted skirt shape though iirc: this one is quite full. Call her over here if you see her though because I LOVE reading her comments.

I'll have a google and see if I can find a pic of the dress. It survived Waitrose and coffee shop - dp walked staright past me in the coffee shop and didn't recognise me! Maybe he needs new glasses?
