as in, my dneice

she is young, gorgeous, slim and says she only likes clothes from topshop and urban outfitters and h&m for basics.

new look- no, "chavvy" apparently
river island- overpriced
asos- overpriced
miss selfridge- no
zara- too expensive and for "properly grown up people"
american apparel- refuses after recent scandals
gap- boring
monsoon- not her style
oasis- no

surely there must be some more?

Would she shop online?

Very have a HUGE range, including directional stuff, various labels and collections (Ferne Cotton - nicer than it sounds!) Customer service evry good.

Warehouse - I think is pretty good as well.

AnyFucker · 03/08/2010 19:20

I was going to say "All Saints", but if she thinks RI is too pricy then that is a no-no

Erm, she is rather fussy isn't she

Perhaps she should stick to those you mentioned, although, tbh, I find UO is more overpriced than RI

OctaviaH · 03/08/2010 19:21

Ah yes, I mentioned Very but she said again, too expensive

We dont have a warehouse down here but I'll tell her too look online, thanks!

Warehouse is more expensive than River Island !

OctaviaH · 03/08/2010 19:22

yes, very fussy indeed

Isn't All Saints famously shoddy quality?

what recent scandals? i love american apparel. seems to be the only shop around with a really good range and the stuff lasts.

MarshaBrady · 03/08/2010 19:24

Asos

I'd say Hoxton Boutique but may be too expensive.

AnyFucker · 03/08/2010 19:29

Oh, I don't buy from All Saints myself

I am 44 yrs old, fgs

I know it is popular though, for those teenagers with more money than sense...

Actually, I tell a lie

I have one item from AS

A woollen cardigan, was 15 quid in the sale about 4 years ago (reduced from 80 quid) and it has been bloody brilliant quality...still looks like new and I get constant compliments about it

Republic?
Mango?

guybrushthreepwood · 03/08/2010 19:33

CEO Dov Charney accused of sexual harrassment multiple times

dodgy advertising (exploitative)

bad employment standards

check out gawker and jezebel for more info

She's never heard of Hoxton Boutique! Neither have I. Will check it out.

guybrushthreepwood · 03/08/2010 19:35

MANGO!! of course. Forget which shops exist when we're in the sticks.

BelligerentGhoul · 03/08/2010 20:23

AA advertising is vile - almost to the point of soft porn.

She should look into vintage stores, if she likes UO as a lot of their stuff is v vintage inspired but scarily expensive. They sometimes have bargains in the sale though. All Saints is quite grunge/goth and not as 'slick pretty' as the girls who tend to shop in UO!

My dds like necklaces, headbands etc from Accessorise though wouldn't be seen in Monsoon. Miss Selfridge actually has a few nice bits, if she's willing to really look.

mrsjuan · 03/08/2010 20:25

Warehouse
Republic
What about Red Herring at Debenhams?

artattackandvine · 03/08/2010 22:25

Uniqlo?

mippy · 04/08/2010 12:20

"american apparel- refuses after recent scandals"

Good for her! Though if you tell her about Urban Outfitters ones that might mean she goes naked...

I was goign to suggest Uniqlo but a lot of their stuff is fairly plain - it lasts forever, though. Vintage would be perfect for her as it's far easier to shop if you're slim. Is she not keen on the Monsoon Fusion range?

She's lucky - when I was a teenager we had Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams and market/lycrawear stores to choose from.

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 14:33

My dds like Uniqlo but only for t-shirts and denim.

dinkystinky · 04/08/2010 14:48

Urban Outfitters is more expensive than half the places she's said are too expensive!

Mango a v good bet for her.

Jane Norman?

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 14:50

Dinky - Jane N v different to UO and TS though, I think.

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 14:51

Octavia - she would probably love Anthropologie but it is fearsomely expensive.

dinkystinky · 04/08/2010 15:20

True

sweetheart · 04/08/2010 16:40

there is a website called boohoo - there stuff is very on trend and cheap. It's not very good quality but if she's looking for disposable fashion items it might be worth a look.

mizu · 04/08/2010 17:07

Mango
French Connection - sale only though!
Republic

All been said on here already but I reckon they would be a good bet.
