Clothes for someone who looks 6 months pg - but is not ...

My stomach is just vile. Huge, flabby, horrible. I look 6 months pregnant. I have even had people ask if I am pregnant I hate it and want to try and disguise it as much as possible.

I have been shopping today for an outfit for a night out on Saturday. I bought a dress and some leggings and a tunic and all of them need to go back. They do nothing for me (even with floor to ceiling spanx type things). What can I wear that might hide my enormo tum ??

High waisted leggings are great
Florals hide lots of unforgiven bumps
show off shoulders or legs in something either with a good plunge or a short hem

this would look nice and because of the tulip shape should enhance what you want enhancing, and disguise the rest.

It's a shame it is black though....

Draping is your friend. Something like this is lovely.

Tillyscoutsmum · 02/08/2010 20:13

Oooh - I like both of those. Thanks

I think I have decided on leggings, high gladiator platforms (which would be a bit too much with a dress) and a tunic type thing. Just need to find a nice draped/floral type tunic (the one I bought was too floaty, a tad too long and too high necked it was this one

If you like the dress Jewels linked to, it also comes in red, tis lovely I think.

I have same prob and this year have bought dresses - some fitted, some empire line - rather than jeans and tops etc. and find they are much more flattering. With heels.

All my stuff tends to be daytime wear though (2 toddlers and not enough nights out at the mo!)

moragbellingham · 02/08/2010 20:20

this is in JL but is an FC dress. I like the grey and they do some lovely sandals in grey and black.very comfortable or higher. All were still in shops but some OS online last time i looked.

tethersend · 02/08/2010 20:22

How about something like this?

tethersend · 02/08/2010 20:24

Or non floral

Tillyscoutsmum · 02/08/2010 21:15

Love the FC one but its OOS in my size and I won't get chance to get to a JL this week

Love the lipsy one. I might order it (not sure about racer back )

Do you reckon this would work ?

Not keen- it looks a bit maternity on the model.

How about this?

tethersend · 02/08/2010 21:39

Or this?

tethersend · 02/08/2010 21:45

Or this?

tethersend · 02/08/2010 21:47

Or this?

Tillyscoutsmum · 02/08/2010 21:47

First link doesn't work...

Like the All Saints one but not sure the pattern is really "me"

I'm going to order the Lipsy one I think. Any ideas what the sizing is like ?

Tillyscoutsmum · 02/08/2010 21:49

Aaaargggh - love love love the Firetrap one but would need a large

OP posts:
Tillyscoutsmum · 02/08/2010 21:51

Are ruffles any good or will they accentuate my tummy ? this ?

OP posts:
tethersend · 02/08/2010 21:53

Large here

tethersend · 02/08/2010 21:53

I would avoid ruffles.

Never bought from Lipsy, so not sure how their sizes come up.

Tillyscoutsmum · 02/08/2010 22:01

You are a genius Thank you so much. Will order the Firetrap one now

Yay

BelligerentGhoul · 02/08/2010 22:50

Hijack - Tethers, I LOVE that Oasis lily print one. It is not long or silk but I think I may just see if I can find it irl to try on.

Tily - I like the one you've chosen.

BelligerentGhoul · 02/08/2010 22:53

Oh Tily - if you need another, some of the Whistles ones look v flattering for tummies:

Corinne for eg

Tillyscoutsmum · 03/08/2010 09:23

Thanks again everyone. Just hope it gets here in time and fits. I have ordered that Phase eight dress as well for future use. Just need to get accessories sorted and I'm done
