Why is my scalp suddenly an oil slick?

I have fine hair which has a slight tendency to greasy roots and dry ends but over the last week it looks rather like I've upended a bottle of oil over my hair a day after washing!

I haven't changed my shampoo or done anything else although it's within the realms of possibility that I'm expecting! Anyone got an ideas/advice?

It's a difficult one. If you haven't changed anything you're using then it's much more likely to be your hormones(they've got a lot to answer for!!) so you may need to try using something else.

Do you use conditioner just on your ends? and do you use a light conditioner? I know they do conditioners now for people with fine hair that gets greasy quickly.

Oh and don't massage your scalp when you're shampooing. I used to do this thinking it would make it last longer but apparently all that does is wake up your natural oils. Also you can buy a shampoo with clay in and other magical things which soak up the oil I think.

Hope this helps

You aren't pregnant are you?

I usually wash my hair every other day but since being pg (am just over 6 weeks) I have to wash it every day. It has gone mega oily at the roots and taken on a kind of wooliness at the ends. Oh the glamour!

When I was pregnant with DS my hair was fab, it went 4 days between washes and stopped being frizzy.

Yeah, I had that! Everybody kept commenting on how lovely my hair was but as soon as I had her it was falling out and breaking off!!

YUMMUM - mine hardly fell out, it was very strange. It had actually fallen out a fair bit before I got pregnant with DS, my Grandma died and it upset me so that my hair started falling out. So I think what grew back during pregnancy was just back to what was normal for me IYKWIM?

It's all very odd. Stress can cause all sorts of problems, which isn't really fair when you think about it.
