Boden - worth the money?

Was bored so idly clicked the link to Boden. It's not "me" at all so have never shopped there, but have fallen in love with pinafore dress and little coat that would be sooo cute on my DD for autumn...I am this close to buying them, but just wondered what the quality/fit etc tends to be like, is it worth splurging £40 on two items (she'd be dressed in them quite often mind) or would I be better off taking my £40 to Next?

I'm really asking for justification to spend ££££ on tiny clothes

If you hang on for a while there's normally codes for 20% or something. The childrens clothes wash well though and are pretty good quality, alot better then Next.

katkouta · 01/08/2010 19:35

Boden are excellent quality, lasts for ages, but I am not well off so buy it either on Ebay or in the sale.
You can always sell it on when its outgrown and make some money back

FranSanDisco · 01/08/2010 19:35

Quality of kids clothes if very goo imho. You can get a discount through mumsnet of 10% plus free p&p when you click on the link.

Aw thanks, I reckon I should just go for it!

What's the sizing like? She's just coming up to 3 months, I was going to get 6-12 so she should be able to wear through the winter, she's quite long but nothing extraordinary and small/medium build, if babies can be such a thing!

I love Boden for my DDs. They are now 11 & 8 but have been wearing it for the last 5/6 years. Wish I had discovered it when they were babies.

It is good quality and washes really well. DD2 wears DD1s boden and it still looks new!

I find that the sizing is quite accurate. My DDs are tall and slim.

I usually try and get lots in the sale as it is pricey but it wears well and sells really well second hand so worth the money.

Right, I've placed an order!

dove birdy

to go with

these underneath

in steel grey

if OH finds out how much I've spent he'll go nuts - I'm hoping he won't see the stuff til she's looking astoundingly cute in it come the autumn

I also found a 15% and free p&p code on the Style and Beauty board so it wasn't as bad as it could have been!

Beautiful! Sure she will look lovely!

You will be hooked now.

Well chosen! Personally I have got a little hooked on boden stuff for the kids, more for DD than DS at the moment. It's quite expensive though, I have bought very few full price items and wait for bigger discount codes i.e 15% or occasionally 25% does the rounds and also buy in the sale (got DD several pairs of jeans for about £11 a pair in the sale and they are fab!).

Sale stuff compares with new Next stuff I find and I think it's worth it, washes well, lasts ages (DD's boden school coat is in it's 3rd year and still going strong).

DDDixon · 04/08/2010 18:43

My stuff's here. It's so cute. I think I might have to get her the purple dress with the elephant and the pink tights now. It'd be rude not to use the £10 off code they've sent, wouldn't it

I find Boden clothes last for ages. Best to buy for next year from their sale, than buy on eBay - they often go for the same price on eBay as direct from Boden sale. I never pay full price, just try and be quick in the sales.

Wandsworthmummy · 30/09/2010 17:23

I don't think Boden is worth the money. Whilst they're bright and easy to wear, the patterns are often OTT and I'm not impressed by the quality. For the same price or less you can get really lovely organic clothes that are much better quality & ethically produced from Frugi. www.welovefrugi.com.

I happen to have a 10% off their new season gear too if you type in HARE into the promo box. Free p&p too. Discount expires end of Nov. Enjoy.

My daughters love her Frugi clothes, whereas her Boden's trousers fall down and our school has even told us not to wear them anymore as you can't adjust the waistband without a belt.

PosieParker · 30/09/2010 17:24

Bode3n is worth it.

WinkyWinkola · 01/10/2010 13:07

I always get Boden in sale only. If I can be bothered.

I find any embroidery on kids clothes start to unravel pretty quickly and their prices for cotton tops is pretty daft. They are pretty clothes though but a bit of a uniform.
