depends totally on your skin type. I use a moisturiser then use Clinique City Block spf40 on top.

Novascotia33 · 01/08/2010 17:39

ok, combination skin. so moisturize, then city block, then foundation, if you wear it. All I mean is is city block not a moisturiser?

Thanks,
Nova

City Block is not a moisturiser. it is a primer with a high SPF. I layer my face- mosituriser, city block, foundation.

Khiels do a brilliant one which is SPF 50, it's a combined moisturiser and sunblock and it definitely does the job as I normally freckle and tan at the first glimmer of sun but this year skin on my face hasn't tanned at all. It's also the first high SPF I've found which doesn't make me breakout and I have combination skin. It feels really light and lovely on your skin.

Also have Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour SPF 50 moisturiser which I was given as a gift and it's good too although a bit heavy. Have also heard good things about the Clinique one.

Ooh, I like the look of the Kiehl's one.
I have to start again with the Clinique age spot corrector thing and face protection as I went out in the sun on holiday.

MAC prep and prime SPF50 is OK but possibly not moisturising.

I really like the MAC prep and prime. My skin is oily though, so doesn't need a huge amount of moisturiser. I tend to use that during the day, and a moisturiser at night.

I use Dermalogica sun block, SPF 50. It's great. You need to moisturise as normal though.

moondog · 02/08/2010 08:09

Is that Kiehl's one transparent?
I was looking at it yesterday.

i use Cityblock but it stains clothes.

Bellebelle · 02/08/2010 13:35

Khiels one is transparent

fishie · 02/08/2010 15:16

i use cityblock 25spf, or la roche posay solaire stuff for running. clarins do one which looks really good, that keihl's one is dead runny.

dingdong3 · 02/08/2010 19:32

Most SPF/UV filter creams are loaded with chemicals - probably not too harmful when used for a couple of weeks of the year during holidays but not great for everyday use.

I use la roche posay anthelios (?sp) It's spf 50 but without parabans and has the lowest dose of chemicals for an SPF cream with UV filters so it's not going to irritate even the most sensitive skin. Not too expensive either, about £15 I think.

Rem to watch out for creams that just have SPF - they will only stop your skin from burning, they will not protect against UV damage. You need to make sure there is UV protection also.

Novascotia33 · 02/08/2010 19:49

Oh I saw the La roche in boots, okay might try that, Kheils sounds good too. Thanks everyone.

I like the kiehls one too, very light texture, I have dry skin so I use less moisturiser when I use it.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 02/08/2010 20:14

I used La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50. Am allergic to most sunscreens, and quite light, but this one works.

Had to laugh though at the bottle that boasts, 'Shaka Shaka technology'
