Am looking for two v specific things, if anybody can be bothered to help me please!

Have set my mind on two things but have no idea if they actually exist:

  1. a long (but not too long as I am a short-arse) grey silk or v light cotton skirt or dress with no flounces, just a slight waft-factor - am thinking sort of Issey Mayake crossed with All Saints, I guess, but without the price tag.

  2. a light grey cowl necked semi fitted top, either sleeveless or short sleeved, maybe viscose or perhaps a viscose/silk mix, deffo not polyester.

NOT to be worn together btw, or I would look like I was wrapped in elephant skin, I think.

Thank you in advance, if anybody can be bothered to help!

grey top - it's cotton.

smart in viscose

I tried this on recently, which I really like, but it's polyester. And purple.

BelligerentGhoul · 30/07/2010 17:39

LOVE that purple one - have a v similar one from Autograph at M&S.

The middle one is quite good (would remove the belt).

Not so fond of the top one.

But all v much on the lines I'm seeing in my head, thank you. You are a genius!

if you like grey then Mint Velvet is your friend

niminypiminy · 30/07/2010 19:14

what about this for a dress? Grant you it is above the knee but I do think it is loverly. (As you can see, I want it myself)

BelligerentGhoul · 30/07/2010 19:18

Sequin dress is lovely but not at all like the thing I dream of right now. I want something to waft about in the day time, keeping cool whilst covered!

Gorgeous, gorgeous dresses on the Mint Velvet site but again, none like the one I'm picturing.

OP posts:
BelligerentGhoul · 30/07/2010 19:19

Thank you both though.

Got distracted by this now! Yum.

Unfortunately, I look awful in white shirts - but I can dream.

lulabellamozerella · 30/07/2010 19:42

grey top??

not sure how long it is can't really tell

another dress

hope that helps!

BelligerentGhoul · 30/07/2010 19:46

Thank you - top is just right apart from weirdy bits on the shoulders.

The first dress is gorgeous but too short for what I want (though am tempted to have a look at in irl anyway - though I usually avoid Tesco). Not fond of the second dress.

OP posts:
ponceydog · 30/07/2010 21:29

what do you think of this dress?

You;d need to be a 10. That's all they have left.

BelligerentGhoul · 30/07/2010 22:07

Thanks Pointy. Not fond of that one - and not a size 10!

I want loooooooooong, I think - and a bit wafty but not a lot wafty.

JustBeachy · 31/07/2010 07:28

top

long sleeved dress
skirt

Look at asos too - site is down atm but i know they have loads of plain style maxi dresses on there.

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 13:48

Thanks. None of those are right though, sorry. I want nicer quality I think - but still reasonably priced! Something akin to Mint Velvet prices tops.

OP posts:
hmmSleep · 31/07/2010 14:06

too expensive?

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 14:08

Ooh - the skirty bit of that is just right. I think my 32Es would fall out of the top though!

OP posts:
hmmSleep · 31/07/2010 14:25

cowl neck?

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 14:30

Niiiiiiiiice - I like that! Anthropologie is scarily expensive for what it is though, I think. Am going to London next week, so I might go and sniff that one out. Thank you!

OP posts:
hmmSleep · 31/07/2010 14:35

too thin and fancy?

Anthropologie is expensive, but I do wear anything I've bought from there to death.

I'm jealous, I'm a fat bellied pregnant woman at the moment dreaming of buying these things myself in a few months time!

hmmSleep · 31/07/2010 14:42

Just noticed they're sold out of grey in that last top I linked to.

montmartre · 31/07/2010 14:50

I tried on a cap-sleeved/sleeveless top from M&S autograph a few weeks ago, with cowl neck... but it really wasn't good on the norks... (tis me btw)
I cant find it on their website to show you either...

Are any of these Reiss dresses any good?
shirt dress

Drapey

pockets

tethersend · 31/07/2010 14:59

This fits neither criteria, but I like it so I'm linking to it.

So there.

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 15:02

Sleep - like that ASOS one apart from the weirdy arm thing.

Hello Montmartre! I've got an M&S one, in a sort of mauve colour and really like it. I wonder if they'll bring it out in any more colours for the Autumn? Need to email you btw - a weekend lunch would be v good indeed!

No to the Reiss ones - the middle and third are too dressy and too short. I want daytime - and long! Thanks anyway though. Love the shirtdress but not what I'm after.

OP posts:
BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 15:03

Hello Tethers! That drapey front thing would make my norks look vast - but I'm glad you popped in anyway - so there!

OP posts:
tethersend · 31/07/2010 15:23

Arf.

Nowt wrong with vast norks

Will look in earnest.

How about this?

tethersend · 31/07/2010 15:28

Skirt?

Skirt?

Top?

Dress?
