Anybody here who knows about home hair colouring? I've just had blonde highlights but think I want to do a full home colour?

Ok, so i finally cracked and gave up my credit crunch brunette and had blonde highlights done today.lots of them too.

I really like the blonde colour on the highlights but it's looking a bit stripy (a bit, it's not terrible) and now i'm thinking i'd prefer to go for a full tint.

if i'm going to go for the tint, i think i'd prefer to do it at home so i can just sort out the roots as and when.

Can anyone offer any advice? is there a problem with doing it so soon after having the highlights? could i potentially put the wrong type of blonde on and it go orange? and have i got it all wrong and it'll look crap?

TIA

I've coloured my hair plenty of times at home, though usually go a bit darker after I've had highlights or similar done because too many bleaching agents can make your hair look a bit straw-like. I normally wait til I have roots before re-colouring though after one DIY highlights disaster (never do your own highlights!) I immediately dyed it a reddish-brown to cover up my mistake and hair was fine.

I've had my hair every shade of brown, blonde and red imaginable and never had a bad reaction to dye or my air go funny colours, BUT I'd be wary of putting a blonde (ie a bleaching) dye over fresh blonde highlights. JMO.

cool thanks.
out of interest in a full head tint cheaper than a full head of highlights at a salon generally?
