Spots that come and go with menstruation

My face gets really bad with spots (red and full of puss) about the week before my period. They stay for about 2 weeks.

My GP says its nothing really to do with my period but it seems like too much of a coincidence! He's given me a few things to try over the last few years and I try them for months but nothing helps.

Has anyone got the same problem? This all started when I was pregnant with DS nearly 6 years ago, I didn't even have acne or spots as a teenager!

you might be better with this on General Health.

TBH it sounds like hormonal acne, and your GP should refer you to a dermatologist.

It is well known that progesterone in the 2nd half of your cycle gives some women spots.

Go back to your dr and ask for a referral- he/she sounds a wally. Sorry.

thanks purplepeony, I wasn't sure where to post this. I was hoping for a miracle cure

GP's know next to nothing about skin. Get a referral or go to a dermatologist yourself. A consult with a private one was the best £120 I ever spent.

I've made an appointment with GP for next week, every time I go about this I feel like I'm taking someone's time with a Doctor that they could really need! I've never really been that bothered about it, its more annoying than anything else.

Thanks, think I need to be more forceful.
