S&B things for the home

I'm coming to the end of some big work on our house and am keen to fill it with stylish and beautiful things. It doesn't feel right to post on Good Housekeeping.

I am currently looking for

  • some beautiful espresso cups
  • a coffee pot for making filter coffee
  • a plain large mirror to go in the living room above simple fireplace
  • 8 dining chairs to go with this table

Will also be looking for 2 new sofas, a chair and side table soon.

Anyone have any beautiful house things they'd like to share?

Will be watching this thread as I'd like some espresso cups too. I ended up buying a plain white bone china set but I'm still hankering after something really pretty.

We bought two beautiful handmade glass ones with different bright patterns a few years back. We ordered 6 more but they never arrived .

We had major renovations 18months ago so we've just finished all of this, We got a bit carried away with some of finishes so had to be a bit careful with how much we spent on furniture and furnishings, so I tried to combine a few really nice pieces with a some ikea and one or two vintage pieces

MM - how about the chocolate leather dining chairs that appear on the RHS of the screen when you open the link to the dining table? They look nice and leather wears well (esp dark leather) and great for wiping little hand prints off.

moragbellingham · 29/07/2010 15:41

I got these in the Xmas sale as a gift for a friend for a tenner! They were beautifully boxed.

moragbellingham · 29/07/2010 15:52

I also saw some beautiful cups and saucers by Missoni in Selfridges a couple of years ago. So pretty.
these are similar and they must do coffee too (although the tea cups are tiny in real life).

I have the Ikea Henriksdal dining chairs that chocolatefroggie posted in the first chairs link and they still look as good as new 4 years on. They're nice and solid.

monkeysmama · 29/07/2010 20:38

Chocolate some great links - can tell you've done this before. Thanks very much. The first Ikea chairs look good - all the similar ones are loads more. I like the Pedlars ones but they don't go with rest of room.

Hey Bunny I like the LomBok ones but they're brown and we want black/dark dark brown. We have cream
leather now and though the leather's great I loathe the colour and they're a decade old.

Morag like the Missoni cups but not the price. The NOTHS ones are pretty but I fancy something brighter.

Keep the ideas coming please. Not just for my list. I love home things.

Chocolate wanted to say thanks for the Ikea chair link. We've just got them and expected to spend far far more so major thanks.

While I am here, has anyone seen an animal print (zebra?) foot rest?

I am also looking to buy quite a few picture frames - anyone have any suggestions for good places to buy them?

I love these espresso cups. They come in so many colours! We have the mugs in our kitchen, they are lovely and bright!

monkeysmama · 09/08/2010 22:03

Thanks Esmee I have seen the big cups but not little ones. I like them.

zebra footrests coming up, glad you like the chairs - it's always worth checking ikea first Grin

this

this is cool

this isn't zebra but nice

it's not a footstool but i like it

as for picture frames

ikea (of course)

zara home has some lovely frames

m&s has a huge selection

it's always worth looking in the supermarkets if you need lots as they're so much cheaper

monkeysmama · 10/08/2010 09:12

Thanks again Chocolate - really like this one. Have you ever ordered from them?

This blog might help you. Am addicted. They have a sister site bambino goodies which is great too.

You said anything nice for the home, this is my current lust for [[http://www.papyrusgifts.co.uk/gifts/Cristal_dArques_Coloured_Wine_Glasses_Flashy_116_1.html item]. Some people might think they are naff but they make me smile when I drink wine out of them.

I'm also a big fan of just silver photo frames and this place have a good selection.

Different expresso cups but might be a b* to hold

expensive but you get 6 and they are quite cool

kateecas, that blog is fantastic.
