im still trying to find the perfect frock for dh's friends wedding. i love 20's style dresses and have a fab burgundy and black cloche hat. was thinking of this with a burgundy coat over (if i can find one) or a wrap dress. please help. i am 5'1", petite size 8 with large boobs and awful legs. dark red bobbed hair and pale olive skin.

Black is fine, especially if you are wearing it with colour. Like the Untold dress though. The flappery dress with cloche might end up looking a bit too Gosford Park extra if not careful

Don't like the Peruvian dress- sorry- looks too casual.
Others okay though would avoid black asccessories or they will think you are going to a funeral.

LilRedWG · 28/07/2010 20:50

I'd go for a dark burgubdy or something. Black is a bit funeral-eqe unless worn with bright accessories.

teameric · 28/07/2010 21:00

I think black is fine for an Autumn/Winter wedding.

netbook · 28/07/2010 21:47

Sorry, I'm going to disagree with PP, I like the peruvian dress, especially with killer shoes and shoes, good colour for an autumn wedding. very anti-Coast, which I like

I also like this and this one which a bit more weddingy

if it's OK for Kristen Scott Thomas in Four Weddings, then it's OK for anyone!

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 28/07/2010 21:56

lol, i do like the KST look. the hat is v simillar to this the first dress is sold out in my size (dammit, me and my dithering) but i really like the 2nd one netbook linked to.

just spoke to dh about wearing black and he thinks too funerally too. but i must wear that hat. it looks sooo good. its a registry office ceremony, v small and meal in restaurant, then party at local hall.

susitwoshoes · 28/07/2010 22:01

oooh, love the hat.

I don't think it's funerally at all, the lines aren't so rigid these days - in fact I wore the same outfit I had worn to a friend's wedding to my dad's funeral.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 28/07/2010 22:02

nice colour, I do like a bit of plum

Lerato · 28/07/2010 22:05

I wore black to an autumn wedding. Black skirt and red top. I was the bride.

Collision · 28/07/2010 22:08

stop dithering and get the dress that netbook linked to.

it will look perfect and now we need to find some killer shoes

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 28/07/2010 22:10

ooo go on then it is a very rare totally child-free day so i can wear proper, real heels. and dangly earrings. and delicate beads without a 5yo sticking his cheesy hands on me then running towards a main road
