im having a spray tan done tomorrow for the first time - never ever had fake tan done before used to use sunbeds before became a mother and now i am trying to be more sensible....

anyone who has had spray/fake tans before, can you offer me any tips, or answer these questions, thanks.....

  1. when do you shave legs - worried if do it JUST before will have blotchy tan around pores - but if have hairy legs will it be blotchy and when i sahve my legs the nest day will it scrape off the tan??!!

  2. eyebrows! will they go orange? should i out vaseline or something on them forst to stop the tan sticking to them? (dont know if vaseline is the thing thats the only thing i could think of..)

  3. having my hair cut 3 hours after - think your not meant to have a shower for 12 hours - if the hair-washer gets water around my face will i have really obvious white bits where the water has been or will it just be a subtle faded bit?

thanks girls!! going to a wedding the next day you see....dont wanna look crap infront of a million old school friends i not seen for years!

I've had good results with Fantasy Tan and St Tropez spray tans - both done by therapists. Haven't like the do-it-yourself booths as much.

Would shave beforehand and would try to reschedule hair appt (if poss) as you may end up with white bits around your hairline!

shave legs the night before (and the morning after is fine, i did it)

my eyebrows were ok without anything

will you be offered another appt the next day? when i get mine done they make an appt for next day if you want anything topped up (i usually need my face topped up) so the hairline problem will be solved

Good point re: the second appt. Fantasy Tan usually has two applications to make sure you are evenly covered. Been a while since I splashed out for one so my memory was a bit hazy.

Have discovered Clarins Radiance thingy, which is like moisturiser with a little bit of fake tan. It's very very good for pale pasty people like me!

Have fun at the wedding

i have fantasy tan too. its fab isnt it? lasted me a week

thats another good point - get some bottle tan and you could rectify it yourself

if not, dont tell the beauty girl about the hair appt, and if it all goes pearshaped, go back to the salon and say you want a top up cos its streaked at the hairline

ooh it went a bit wrong - it was a self-tan spray booth and i got given far too many instructions all at once that i had to try and remember, which of course i failed to do and therefore i know have a streaky tan and a wedding to go to tomorrow!! i have managed to make it a lot better though, with the aid of a loofa and some exfoliator, (and 3 hours of red raw skin where i had scrubbed at!!) oh well, pretty brown though!!

hope you enjoy the day, just have a few drinks and after that you wont care

its a good ice breaker anyway - "want to see my streaks?" lol
