I need some seriously comfortable shoes

I'm trying to lose weight at the moment so am doing a lot of walking round London instead of hopping on the bus or tube - up to 6 miles a day. My feet are suffering as a result though.

I got a pair of Clarks ballet pumps thinking they'd be very comfortable but the leather is really solid so they give me blisters.

I can't wear anything too flat as I get foot pain. I'm too vain to wear trainers outside of the gym .

Can anyone recommend a really comfortable pair of shoes? Preferably not too expensive as I recently spent £40 on the painful Clarks shoes .

How about some FitFlops or similar ? I got some of the Sketchers ones a couple of weeks ago, and they are total bliss to my normally painful feet

I like the sound of FitFlops but I'm not sure because of the toepost. MIL gave me some similar orthopedic flip flops but I ended up with blisters.

MBTs (the original fit flops and more effective from what I've read) do loads of styles that might work. They are quite clumpy looking though.

Some of the MBTs aren't too bad looking. But at the price.

I'm a fatty so the less clumpy the better.

sorry, but if you are walking 6 miles on london pavements you need decent supportive trainers or similar. swallow your vanity and think of how slim and fit you will be

nothing flat, defo not ballet pumps or glads ( what were you thinking of??? )

I love love love my Camper trainers with a special thin but squishy sole. Very comfortable (but not cheap) - and don't look like mattresses. Still wearing mine four years on and they still look good (and they are white leather!)here

I got these, and they are very comfortable. I walk a lot and need to be comfortable. These aren't totally flat either, they have a kind of foamy inch sole

much cheaper than mbts which are horrible imo

valiumSingleton · 26/07/2010 18:03

that's no use to you they are all sold out. Sorry.

olderandwider - thanks for that, some of the Camper ones are lovely. Will have a look in the shop in Covent Garden.
