I put my foot on floor, with knee tensed- and just go for it!!!
I have no itching.
No. I am hard but the bikini line made me sob.

DD is 13 and epilates her legs- AND DOESN'T FLINCH (has obviously inherited hard gene)

sue52 · 24/07/2010 16:22

As Deaddei says for knees. Never been brave enough to do anything other than shave my underarms and I leave my bikini line to the professionals.

lilac21 · 24/07/2010 17:08

I use an epilator and it doesn't hurt me either - maybe after 5+ years I am intolerant to it!

No itching, but I moisturise every day.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 24/07/2010 19:58

You have to use the smallest head for the underarms, and pull the skin tight or it will grab the flesh as well as the hairs < states the obvious >.

I use tweezers for my underarms

With my knees I tense and go for it

Talking about epilators I've had mine over 10 years. It was the first satin ice. are they better now? Is it worth splashing out?

DinahRod · 24/07/2010 20:04

Avoid the week of your period, it hurts more.
Make sure knee is bent and not straight, so the skin is taut; although have given up epilating as I was getting too many ingrown hairs, no matter how often I exfoliated, but once you do it the first time and thin the growth, it's much easier ime.

Naetha · 24/07/2010 20:08

I was going to ask the same about old empilators - are the new ones that much better? Mine's an old satin ice as well, and i can only ever seem to get 95% of the hairs after several runs, and even then there's always a few stubborn ones.

menaceandmayhem · 24/07/2010 20:08

I bend my knee and whip it over. Its the tops of my legs/thighs that I have to bite on wood when I do. Often get DP to do it for me!

Haven't had any issues with itching.

Wax my own bikini line (brave) and shave my pits. But tweezering pits? Yowee!

menaceandmayhem · 24/07/2010 20:12

I have a Phillips one, can't remember the name, bought a few months ago. I love it. Has a few different heads, and A LIGHT! Its amazing! (Easily pleased)

EccentricaGallumbits · 24/07/2010 20:57

are my knees extra knobbly then? just can't do it. not the pain but the angle.

i ended up doing cream for knees and thighs (and bikini/fanjo) epilated lower legs and shaved armpits.

i'm exhausted.

different heads sounds an advantage

bronze · 24/07/2010 23:13

oh and anyone have one of these new fangled ones you can use it water? I wonder if that helps as its always easier after a shower/bath

jamaisjedors · 25/07/2010 12:03

No I can't do my knees either and was going to start a thread.

I think mine are quite knobbly. It doesn't really hurt on there (although just above the knee on my thigh KILLS) but I can't get the hairs at all and have to use tweezers.

lilac21 · 25/07/2010 22:44

I replaced my very old one with this one and it is a big improvement, much more effective and I can do my bikini line, legs and underarms with the same gadget.
