crop top

I'm size 16, average boobs, but somehow they are just in the wrong place - very very near my shoulders (or I have very sloped shoulders, or something). I have to hitch up any straps as tight or tighter than they can go. No matter what I wear, if the neckline is even slightly v-shaped or scooped, you can see my bra, and in many tops, all the way to my waist if I bend the least bit forward. Not good. I think I sit slightly hunched shoulders, too, which exacerbates it.

I've tried vest tops underneath, but apart from being too hot, they very often do the same thing - they are also much too low, or to wide/gapey, and it's just two layers falling forward. Same thing with 'modesty panels' - they end up hanging funny, because my shoulders are so narrow and they are wider, even if I try to clip them on tightly. Or the whole thing falls forward and you can see where it ends. Plus they are kind of horrid lace.

Jersey/ribbed vest tops can help, if I can ever find ones that come up high enough - sometimes Next do them - but it's still two layers which can be hot or bulky. I was going to cut one of those to make it shorter, if I have to, but it's a hassle hemming it, so I thought surely I could find a crop top somewhere that would do the same thing, but no. Sloggi do a lycra type crop top that looks like a short vest top, but it's very low cut, comes below the edges of my bra. I need one that comes up higher than that, but that doesn't look like a sports top with special mesh or panels or stripes or whatever, or has really thick straps that would show a lot around the shoulders.

Otherwise I'm rationed to tight, high round necked tops, I guess, but that just looks bad on me generally, big expanse below not broken up by anything.

Maybe it's my posture. Or my boobs aren't big enough for the size t-shirts I have to get for the rest of me. Or something is weirdly proportioned.

but there's got to be some kind of crop top thing that would fit and look OK under tops. I'd need to try it on I expect, as lots that look high enough at first glance just end up not even coming close, but an internet site that does easy returns is a possibility. Any help?

I would go and get properly bra fitted, it sounds like they are not being held in the correct position and therefore all these tops look wrong.

M&S, or a specialist underwear shop should help you...start with the bra and then move onto the tops, if you're not wearing the correct Bra it will honestly make a world of difference to your shape and your posture...

I have - was fitted by Triumph recently, and have been to M&S too.

I think I just have a really short space between my armpits and my shoulders, because my shoulders slope so much and/or are quite narrow. And my boobs start sloping gently from quite high up, unlike some people's who are quite flat with sudden mountains, if you see what I mean!

Something like the sloggi crop top would have been good, but the straps weren't adjustable (and if you adjust straps too much so that the front is at a reasonable height, they do end up being too tight under the arm).

So I need a much higher version of the sloggi top, like a couple of inches higher.

I bought something like this in Gap here - maybe worth a look?

thank you - the Asda one looks especially good as it's quite straight across the top, so I'll try to pop out there this weekend.
