Removing mascara

deaddei · 22/07/2010 20:12

I have Lancome's Hypnose waterproof mascara which is hell to remove. I normally use Olay's remover, but still wake up looking like a panda.
I know Lancome's eye make up remover- the blue one- is excellent, but really don't want to spend that much.
What works ladies?

bifacil
lancome
or marks cheapo copy of it

cybilliberty · 22/07/2010 20:15

I use my normal make up remover

Tesco's Liz earle rip off

Josie on big brother uses baby oil (and all over face too weirdly)

HTH

LargeGlassofRed · 22/07/2010 20:16

baby oil everytime. fantastic

moragbellingham · 22/07/2010 20:16

I used to use Lancome Bifacial or Clinique. Now I'm on a budget I tried the No7 blue coloured one with the £5 off voucher (made it about £2!) and I would definitely buy it again.
Same consistency/texture as the two above.

Bourjois do a similar one (where you shake the oil and water together) in a massive bottle and I think there is 3 for 2 in Superdrug at the mo.

If you know anyone going to America, Neutrogena do this which is the best eye make remover I've ever used I loved it so much I brought back 5 bottles and always ask people to bring some back if they are going!

Lulumaam · 23/07/2010 13:47

same as Largeglassofred. have used baby oil to remove eyemake up/mascara for 15 years at least. occasionally cave in and buy a proper remover, but they always seem to sting or leave loads of make up behind

also baby oil removes waterproof mascara too with no rubbing

i also have barely any fine lines /wrinkles around my eyes, i think the oil and not having to rub the skin helps

FreeButtonBee · 23/07/2010 16:54

my pillow

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/07/2010 16:58

I don't take it off.

Sleep with make up on and it comes off in the shower next day.

If theer are any panda marks I use baby oil.

TulipsInTheSunshine · 23/07/2010 16:59

Simple Eye Makeup Remover

excellant stuff

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/07/2010 17:00

Body Shop eyemakeup remover. Been using it 20 years. Non-oily, non stingy. Not expensive.

monkeysmama · 23/07/2010 17:32

If you don't mind using L'Oreal the one you shake to mix the clear and blue bit is brilliant (I have same mascara as you). I also use a Clarins gel thing in the shower - rubs in like a gel and showers off.

LolaLadybird · 24/07/2010 17:11

Another vote for the No7 blue eye make-up remover. I've been using it for years because it is sooo good at removing waterproof mascara with no rubbing required. It has a slightly oily consistency which makes the make-up just slide off. Much better than more expensive brands I've tried.

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/07/2010 17:13

why does anyone ever use waterproof mascara?

TulipsInTheSunshine · 24/07/2010 19:07

In my case because when i don't i either cry or get rained on and end up with scary goth style black drips down my face

darkandstormy · 24/07/2010 21:46

OP I never ever got to the bottom of this quandry over the years nearest to it was simple eye makeup remover.I now swear by blinc mascara or clinique high imact, both "tube" lashes and are removed by water alone really, really brilliant I wouldn,t go back to conventional mascara again tbh.

vjg13 · 24/07/2010 22:48

No 7 for me too.

deaddei · 25/07/2010 20:46

Great ideas ladies- I will try the Loreal one.

I use waterproof mascara otherwise in ends up all over my face. I find the best thing for getting it off is Boots Cold cream (traditional) It's been around for years, reasonably cheap and doesn't irritate my skin.
