I've been threatening to cut my long hair for years and have made the appointment for enxt Friday. At the moment it is hlf way down my back, very dark brown with a (natural) reddish hue, dead straight. I used to have the front layered and a long side fringe, but have grown that all out in anticipation of cutting it into a nice, sleek style.

Sooooo...what do I go for? I'd like to to be just about long enough to out up (at least to pin up if not put in a ponytail). I don't want anything choppy and hard to style. I was thinking a long bob, side parted, slightly shorter on one side, but nothing too Posh Spice last year-ish.

Any suggestions? Please!

Excuse typos - long enough to put up

Personally whenever I see someone with the slightly-shorter-on-one-side look it's all I can do to restrain myself from grabbing the nearest pair of scissors and evening it out a bit Just looks like bad hairdressing to me - sorry!

Your hair sounds like a lovely colour, so why not go for a nice elegant smooth long-ish bob, that you can swish about a bit like a Pantene advert - and then the time after that go shorter once you've got used to it?

Good idea! I like the idea of going shorter gradually

I just need some pictures to take the hairdresser now...
