Fear no more, you will soon be showing off those hoofs!! I have found the most brilliant tool for all of us horned hoofers.

I went on holiday recently to Madeira and had a pedicure and chirpodist session to remove hard skin on my feet. They used this tool and almost shaved off all my hard skin, you wouldn't believe how much came off - better than when I go to a chiropodist in UK. My feet were left so smooth that I honestly was amazed.

Anyway, took a peek at the tool he used and googled it when I came home. I ordered one and some blades (around £14 in total with delivery). It is called a corn remover, but dont be put off, it comes with an attachment for corns but the blade bit is just for hard skin. I have just used it again and it is bloody brilliant. I will never have to pay chiropodist again to do it.

You must try it, I love it!

Pumice and daily Flexitol keeps mine nice and smooth

AlistairSim · 19/07/2010 20:36

Some of us have known about these for a long time.

smug

MrsBadger · 19/07/2010 20:39

oh I meant to thank you all

I had great success with flexitol on my floor-calloused knees
wore a short dress with pride at henley

Rexy · 19/07/2010 20:40

scratchmyback · 19/07/2010 20:45

bloody hell, and there's me thinking I had found a gem

AlistairSim · 19/07/2010 20:46

Spend a lot of time on your knees, do you, MrsBadger?

ReasonableDoubt · 19/07/2010 20:48

I can't do it myself. Too scared I will cut my foot or saw off half my bone or something!

BeenBeta · 19/07/2010 20:53

That contraption looks lethal!

Have a good old file off with a cheap Boots heel file (looks like a cheese grater) every morning in the shower and Flexitol after.

Have heels like Hermes.

Milliways · 19/07/2010 21:05

I got a thing like that from Boots (much cheaper) to shave off verrucas that had taken root for a year. Soon found it was great for hard skin generally.

(Oh, and along with Duct tape - the verrucas went, as they are much worse than hard skin!)

MrsBadger · 19/07/2010 21:35

chance'd be a fine thing

tis from changing nappies on the floor

AlaskaNebraska · 20/07/2010 08:32

tel me about duct tape
ds has MILLIONS

BoysAreLikeDogs · 20/07/2010 08:37

apply duct tape, leave on for 6 days, remove, file, reapply til verrucas have gorn (2 months or more)

anecdotal evidence only

NorbertDentressangle · 20/07/2010 08:38

I just cannot bring myself to use anything that shaves cuts or peels off skin. Eurgh!

A quick daily rub with the pumice stone whilst in the shower and some Flexitol are keeping mine looking OK (and they were horrible)

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/07/2010 08:52

What is WRONG with you all? I don't have any hard skin on my feet or knees. Have never used a pumice or a cheese grater or owt.

Is it something which comes with age?

Urgh at the thought of someone scraping great big bits of skin off my feet.

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/07/2010 08:54

I do have elbows which look like they are covered in limescale however.

I did try that thing where you sit with your elbows in halves of lemon. It didn't work - I think it is just a cosmin practical joke. Entertained dd however.

MrsBadger · 20/07/2010 10:13

try flexitol on scaly elbows

go on go on go on

we could be horned jointers

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/07/2010 10:15

Christ nobody tells you this when you are young and fragrant.

Bloody scaly knees and elbows. Cellulite on your stomach. Hairy toes.

What the blardy hell is flexitol anyway?

bigTillyMint · 20/07/2010 10:18

Boysarelike dogs is right about the duct tape - works absolute wonders on verrucas and warts!

Must find some flexitol!

MrsBadger · 20/07/2010 10:18

just industrial-strength moisturiser thus
£5 from boots

NorbertDentressangle · 20/07/2010 13:29

You asked if it was to do with age and IMO it is.

My feet were perfectly normal until I hit 40 and since then, as soon as I expose them to the spring/summer air the heels (and , in fact this year, the arches too) become horrible and dry.

FindingMyMojo · 20/07/2010 15:46

I use pumice. Still using the same piece of pumice I picked up from a lake about 14 years ago. Little & often. Although now the shower is fixed, I am doing it less often.

Loving the duct tape tip - cheers.

duplotogo · 20/07/2010 18:05

I have horned hooves, too! I deal with it by going for a medical pedicure every now and then. So thanks for the link OP.

What I don't understand is, why do feet do this but not hands? Is it the way we use them?
