I have a low cut dress and need a bra that has no back bit,but don't fancy those long criss cross straps.

M&S do one but reviews are dire

This looks bizarre but interesting...

lillybloom · 18/07/2010 20:06

My friend tried those tethersend and they were useless.

tethersend · 18/07/2010 20:11

They scare me.

thelunar66 · 18/07/2010 20:26

Those long criss-cross straps don't work. They only gave me an extra 1 inch of back-age.

Rexy · 18/07/2010 22:54

Anyone in the know ???

this is your friend

AlaskaNebraska · 07/08/2010 13:06

no one with a dd should be backless unless you are a freaky size 10 or under

ifancyashandy · 07/08/2010 13:24

Blimey Alaska, that's a tad harsh!

Rexy I'm a 34 DD (and size 10 but not a freak Hmm) and the Ultimo thingy above works.

QueuePosition3 · 07/08/2010 14:52

O meant freaky tit to weight ratio

Rexy · 07/08/2010 17:40

Wait - it doesn't come in a 34 DD.

And I am not a freak thanx- size 10-12

No - but if you take the gel inserts out, it fits a DD (or does me - like I said, am 10-12, 34DD)

Or you could go up a back size? They sell them in some John Lewis - go and try it on maybe?

hellymelly · 07/08/2010 19:29

www.carnivalbras.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14 this bra is the best backless I have used.It only goes up to a D but when I last wore it I was a 32 DD and it was fine as the shape of the cup means you can spill over a bit without it affecting the look or the support. It is really flattering and comes in a nude colour as well as black and white.Wear it with some high waist pants and it gives a great shape.

Rexy · 07/08/2010 22:46

Helly' bit confused how is it backless ??

It has a plunging back down to the waist, the whole thing wraps around and does up at waist level at the back. Like a standard longline strapless bra,but cut into a low V shape at the back.I wore mine last to a party with a dress with a low back, and someone came up and said to me wistfully "I would love to wear dresses like that, but I can't because I really need a bra" and I said "but I AM wearing a bra",so it does work.If your dress was as low as one I had as a teenager, right down to the small of your back, then obviously it would show, but for something almost to waist level it doesn't show.

ladylush · 09/08/2010 10:22

the ultimo one - does it come in nude?

Heartsease · 09/08/2010 10:28

I was also sceptical about the criss cross straps but have found them surprisingly effective -- I have worn them very successfully with a dress which only comes about 3in above my natural waistline, and I like the feeling of security you get from still having a proper bra (though am less generous of boob than you).

Whatever you do, I also recommend putting a bit of lingerie tape at the lowest point of a backless dress, which stops you nervously reaching round to check it's where it should be.

hellymelly · 09/08/2010 14:09

Just to clarify, its the style 203 I'm referring to,the one at the top of the listings, not the strapless regular bra pictured large on the left of the page.

ladylush · 10/08/2010 09:15

I used a criss cross one before but didn't like it cos I had bulges above the straps front and back. Not a good look.
