And what is your real size?
Am irrationally (or not) peed off. I am a size 8-10. And yet today everythign I tried on in there was labelled 'large'
So is this a common thing or am I a freak? Who on earth is buying their extra small size?

I also noticed their sizes run small. Just depends on the company. In most I'm a small since small is usually 4/6. But places like Zara and Victoria's Secret I'd be a medium.

When I think about it that probably is to cater to our American crowd, I don't really mind getting a different size since every company is different. Although if they cut off certain sizes, hopefully they'll amend that. Yet if they don't cater to plus size I'd probably want to buy brands that cater to it for the best possible fit and look. I do feel a person should be able to have that option though, which would be smart for Zara to not put off willing customers.

Age has nothing to do with size

AnneGriff55 · 24/11/2017 17:14

I tried a M in a jacket yesterday and there was a six inch gap! Obviously need the large. I've never been a large .

lindyloo57 · 24/11/2017 17:40

5'3 size 10 or 12- Zara size med or large, trouser always a no no, way too long.

ComedyBoobs · 24/11/2017 17:58

Their size guide is 27" waist for M & size 10 - does this sound about right?

ComedyBoobs · 24/11/2017 18:00

Argģgh....didny realise it was a zombie thread

ihavetogoshoppingnow · 24/11/2017 18:15

I’ve not got anything from Zara atm but I know I’ve had to size up before, the kids stuff is tiny. Shops sizing is ridiculous I’m a size 8 or 26 waist in jeans I tried on some denim shorts in topshop once and I couldn’t get the size 14 up my legs Confused

stoplickingthetelly · 24/11/2017 20:53

I'm between a 12-14. I stopped looking in Zara, nothing ever fits and I'm not that big.

jelliedeel · 24/11/2017 21:29

My last few purchases were 2 XS dresses, an M jacket and then an L dress and finally 2 L cardigans and an S skirt. My weight doesn't fluctuate that much in 6 months!

neveradullmoment99 · 25/11/2017 07:16

I haven't bought anything from Zara in years. As a 12 I remember having to go for the large!

schnubbins · 25/11/2017 09:00

I am 5 ft 10 a size 12-14. I have tried on so many things in Zara in XL and nothing fits, sleeves are too short , waist line under my boobs. The only thing that fit me are the scarves.

nhendrix1208 · 31/12/2017 14:43

I am a six 6, my daughter is a size 2. I bought a pair of black velvet jeans in a size 8 because they looked small. They fit my daughter. Their clothes are clearly not made for women with curves. Over it

nhendrix1208 · 31/12/2017 14:45

This is not correct. 10/12 are XL, 8 L, 6 M, 4 S, 2 XS

HildaZelda · 31/12/2017 15:14

Zara come next to H&M in terms of freaky sizing. I'm generally an 8 in most shops, sometimes a 6 but I have a coat from Zara that is xs, a jacket in small and two tops that are medium (a/b boobs so that's not a factor) I couldn't get jeans/trousers to fit me in there if I tried because at 5 3" I'd have to chop 6 inches off the legs.

humanfemale · 31/12/2017 15:48

I have stuff from Zara ranging from XS to XL ¯\(ツ)/¯

humanfemale · 31/12/2017 15:49

H&M trousers are the worst! I don't even bother any more! Last time I was a size 10 in Topshop jeans and literally couldn't even get a pair of H&M 14s past my knees

MuseumOfCurry · 31/12/2017 16:42

I bought some Zara medium navy blue sailor trousers last year (adorable - possibly one of my top 5 favourite wardrobe pieces), and they were so-so-so-so tight on me that they actually kicked me into action.

I was probably a size 12 at this point (at let's say, Jigsaw) and now I'm an 8 and occasional 10 at the same, and they fit quite nicely now.

LockedOutOfMN · 01/01/2018 00:01

I get M for most tops but have sometimes needed / wanted L especially for shirts. I am S or 36 for trousers. In U.K. I wear an 8. Used to be between an 8 and a 10 and have stayed the same size but U.K. sizes just get bigger and bigger. I live in Spain and buy loads of clothes from Zara. There are also many, many women here who are much smaller than me. Zara's a Spanish brand so the sizes reflect Spanish people's sizes.

LockedOutOfMN · 01/01/2018 00:07

bulletproofgerbil
And whoever said since when were Spanish people so tall, I totally agree. I've been on hols there a lot and don't feel ridiculously out of place l at 5'1". I'm certainly not aware of women there being very tall.

Spanish people's height varies quite significantly from region to region / city to city. Nowadays, in the younger generations, women are often taller than men. However, as you say, both sexes tend to be shorter than their British counterparts (and thinner). It's very common to have clothes altered here to fit properly, particularly smart/smartish trousers for men and women.

wfrances · 01/01/2018 00:11
