Estee Lauder Doublewear has been recommended lots here. I tend to use it for evening only as I find it a bit heavy (but obv depends on shade you use). I use a Boots No 7 one for daytime. What shade are you thinking of going for?

PaulineCampbellJones · 14/07/2010 07:05

MAC fluidline is really good. Tonnes of shades too.

have you tried dying the eyelashes sometimes that is enough and you don't end up with a 80's look

Ronaldinhio · 14/07/2010 07:53

i always feel a bit Bangles with lower eyeliner

or a lighter eyeshadow?

Use a thin angled brush and eye shadow. Much softer than pencil and stays there longer

use it on the top lash line too

and get a decent foundation for your winey cheeks

moragbellingham · 14/07/2010 08:54

Thank goodness I'm not the only one!
I guess it also depends on your eye shape, but the Bangles thing is what I'm trying to avoid/always end up with.
Not too keen on the old Diana Vickers look but it seems I'll have to go down that route to some extent.
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner doesn't budge at all once it's been left about 30 secs

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/07/2010 08:59

I use a little eyeshadow from the outer corner to about half way across, anything more looks OTT!

My future SIL uses a black pencil liner and combined with her over-blonde hair she looks like a train wreck.

aquavit · 14/07/2010 10:07

I use urban decay 24/7 too, you can smudge it a bit to make a less harsh line before it sets, either in grey or a mossy green: sounds a bit colourful but actually just gives subtle definition

I take it over the top lashes as well as underneath

or I use shadow like cyb suggests (the body shop do a brilliant firm, flat angled brush for this) but I find it doesn't last as well as the 24/7 pencils

steer well clear of black

ALI Love your name, I think it is just doing the line half across is the right thing, thanks for the tips girls, I am going to the Mac shop today, so will further investigate there.I am thinking of going something chocolate dark brown something like that.As you have all said, it is getting the balance right and avoiding the Bangles look.

Ask the MAC girls to help you. The fluidline is faint like an eyeshadow line so you don't get panda eyes!

aquavit · 14/07/2010 10:25

have a look at the rosemary and thyme eye kohl if you are going to MAC, I think it would look lovely with your colouring - it is a shimmery goldish-green
