Ok, I've always shaved my legs and just sort of tidied up my bikini area as and when needed.

However, I'm now single and dating a lot and am feeling waxing regularly would be way less hassle than having to shave?

So how long does a wax last? Also I'm assuming you have to let it grow back to get it waxed off again; so what do you do about this in-between stage if lack of leg hair is important?

How soon after last shaving can you go for a leg and bikini wax?

So many questions!

I gave up waxing my legs as I got bored of waiting for them to grow long enough. I now epilate my legs which is better than waxing (in my humble opinion).

Got a brazilian booked for Thursday. Haven't had one for ages. Bit nervous.

I have a waxing every 3wks but then my hair grows very quickly. Most people 4 or 5wks and some 6wks. You do need to let it grow a bit to enable it to be caught and this is a pain esp in summer and esp if dating. I'm an old married fogey so just don't care!

It is lovely when first done and nice to have done before a weekend away as you don't need to worry about it. It also becomes softer and fairer and you get bald patches which is good! However, you do need to exfoliate regularly to avoid ingrowing hair which can be painful and cause a nasty spot looking thing. This is especially important on your bikini line.

Waxing best for me as my skin too sensitive to shaving and creams. Ankles hurt more than bikini line IMHO.

I would be able to have a wax about 3days after shaving as my hair would be long enough. I think it's about 3or 4mm it need to be.
HTH

Thanks both for the replies, it's a minefield!

Hmm my hair on my legs grows quite slowly, and I'm fair and the hair is quite patchy. Don't think I can deal with the regrowth period though.

Can you epilate your bikini line too? If I shave 9/10 I get the red bumpy rash on my bikini line - but fine on legs.

waxing only lasts about 2 weeks for me. Then I give in and shave! I would wait a week or two before having it waxed.

notjustapuppymum · 14/07/2010 09:14

Waxing lasts 6 weeks for me, actually lasted 8 when I was pregnant, but then I've been waxing regularly for 10 years + now and that is the key to getting longer between waxes, for most people anyway.

onesock · 14/07/2010 09:26

Notjustapuppymum, I've been waxing my legs for 18yrs and I still just get 2wks out of it. But then I'm tres hairy!

notjustapuppymum · 14/07/2010 11:09

Gosh onesock! I would consider myself to be v. hairy as well although it is very fair in colour so not as noticeable and thanks to my years of waxing is now also very fine.

Hi. I got my bikini line lasered. Painful and expensive but worth it - no hair there at all now
Am dark and hairy. I get about 4 weeks out of a leg wax. Have been getting them waxed constantly for years. Growth definitely slower and, like NJPM, hair now finer. Can't afford to get the legs lasered!

iamfabregasted · 15/07/2010 09:03

Well I've had my legs waxed and it farking hurt. I am too chicken to get that done regularly.

Do get my bikini line waxed though - lasts me about 4 weeks I suppose.

Unlike bishoplyn I can't afford the laser treatment - but then she is worth it

notdinnerpartyconvo · 15/07/2010 19:09

Thanks for the replies everyone! Epilating sounds like the way forward to me, pain doesn't bother me much! What's the best epilator then?

Bishoplyn, lasered!! Sounds extreme; how much did it cost can I ask?

Hi. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and had some dark hair on my face and chin. When I started going for laser, it was to get this removed and has worked well. Go every 3 months for 'top ups'. Have been going for about 5 years.
The place I go charges £98 for 20 mins - so when face/chin is done, I get other 'bits' done to use up the time
Think this is quite cheap. Have priced other places more local to me and have been quoted about £150 for face and chin only.
Oh to be fair and hair free....
