brief backlog, my best friend a nd i spent all our lives together up untill the age of 18ish we both came from the same background with the same expectations set upon us collage uni job climb the ladder get to the top have children family husband later. i fell in love had children got married and became a very content sahm. she did the other. we lost contact after dd was born and havnt spoken since at all. anyway i bumped into her not long ago agreed we'd both been a little silly and should catch up. well here i am we are going out this week for drinks. And it sounds really silly but i dont knoe what to wear, and for some reason it feels REALLY important! anyone getting this or have i gone a little mad?
Anyway i was hoping some of you lovely s&b ladies could give me a hand. Im mid easrly 20's short slim blonde fair with blue eyes what would you dress me in?

a maxi dress with a denim jacket and cool flipflops?

Just cos I have started wearing this and feeling cool in it.

Well you don't want to go looking mumsy I take it? Neither do you want to look like you are trying too hard. Could a maxi end up looking a little bucolic Kirstie Allsop if you wear it with flip flops? How about strappy wedges and some big chunky statement jewellery - or is that a bit too mid-30's?

hmm in fairness i probably dress a bit older than i am anyway another friend told me recently that i look like a PM's wife am re thinking my skinny jean t-shirt cardy uniform i usually sport (i thoght i looked good)
i like vintage looking stuff 1920's-30's
but is this mumsy? i havnt a clue

No wedges
No flipflops for evening.
No fly shoes or boots
Chunky statement jewellery can go either way- choose with care.

Maxi could be ok, but very dodgy ground. I wear maxis, but am 32 and wouldn't wear one for a night out.

Love the idea of vintage 20s-30s; do you have any good vintage shops near? Something like this or this would look lovely...

Bloody hell, you're a slim blond in your 20s, you could probably wear a binbag

Don't over think it.

Maryqueenofchocs · 13/07/2010 16:32

Agree with Angry if you wear skinnies normally just glam it up with heels, vintage blouse and maybe a jacket/blazer combo...

Sophisticated chic..

I would not go for a maxi if you are short - you may just feel lost in fabric and dowdy.

I like the idea of skinny jeans, heels, vintage blouse and maybe a chunky cuff? Cut nails short and paint dark colour (black/dark red) smooth on some lovely body lotion, wear expensive perfume and I think you'll look great
