can't let go

I've had a silk dress from Kew for three summers but this summer suddenly fell in love with it and worn it all the time. I've treated it mean (chucked it in washing machine and tumble drier.) It is finally showing signs of wear and no one is selling an identical one on Ebay. Will have to ration it back to best not every day.

Anyone else fallen in love with something so much they can't bear it when it falls apart?

I have Laura Ashley Pjs that are 15 years old. The arse seam has split so many times, but I will sew them up forever more because I love them.
Not quite the same thing, but I have recently lost a lot of weight so a lot of my really really favourite things no longer fit, and are sat waiting for me to decide what to do with them. I'm hoping that maybe it won't cost a lot to get them altered, but if the cost is prohibitive I may just have to put all the weight back on cry
