What kind of "bottoms" do you wear in winter?

I tend to dress smart casual most of the time ( have a few things that are smarter for work, such as wool tailored trousers, a skirt and adress) but I am happiest in trousers and tops.

This year I really want to try to get away from the usual jeans or smart trousers but can't seem to find anything in between except cords. I thinking of clothes to meet friends for lunch, going shopping, et c etc,

I'd also love towear skirts and dresses more for everyday wear but somehow always feel 2dressed up" in them even with falt boots and thick tights.

What kind of trousers do you wear apart from jeans?

purplepeony · 10/07/2010 21:05

matte black jeans are okay but I try to steer clear of black having lived in it for years. Might be a good idea to re-think that one.

what about a maxi skirt. They are meant to be big this winter and can be dressed up or down.

GeorginaWorsley · 10/07/2010 23:08

I wear wide leg trousrs,Boden velvet ones,Monsoon wool ones,Autograph denim ones.
With cami/tee,fitted or long cardigan.
I do wear jeans more in winter, but as a rule I hate the jeans everyday look.

Camel wool skinny trousers with the tiniest of bootcuts if vogue is to be believed.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/07/2010 08:16

Hmmm - I like dresses with boots in the winter for the sort of days you are talking about.

tracey - really? gulp my thighs are too fat for skinny camel trousers! I shall have to be unfashionable

notyummy · 11/07/2010 08:18

Dresses or tunics over leggings with flat boots ( biker style?) This should look more dressed down than work attire I think.

dexter73 · 11/07/2010 10:45

I used to feel dressed up when I wore dresses but it is just a mind thing. If you start doing it then you get used to them and don't feel like you are going to a party! I felt a bit the same about maxi dresses as long=smart, but have just worn my maxi dress and now it feels normal.

MrsC2010 · 11/07/2010 11:57

Definitely dresses with tights, long sleeve t-shirts etc for me. I like the wide leg trouser idea though, might try to find some.

GeorginaWorsley · 11/07/2010 18:58

Yes I do dresses with tights and boots too.
Long sleeve tee under usually dresses it down a bit, imo.
