Severe insomnia! How long should I expect it to last?

I've not smoked for a month today, cold turkey... and I cannot sleep. The nights I do sleep I'm averaging about 3/4 hours of broken sleep, and at least 2 nights per week I don't sleep at all.
I'm doing everything by the book on the 'sleep hygiene' and relaxation front (I've always had a pretty good bed time routine), and yet I just lie there wide awake.

I'm not even bloody bothered about cigarettes anymore, I don't want nor crave one, but I feel like having one to see if it will enable me to sleep!

Has anyone else experienced this?! How long will it last? I just want to sleep! 😭

Not sure if this will help but when I've given up (done it a few times but 3 years and counting now!) I found I missed evening cigarettes the most. I figured it was to do with the end of the day wind down. Taking deep breaths, zoning out, staring into space. So I just did those things without the cigarette. Eventually started running in the evenings too as well as regular yoga. All of this helps me sleep. (I do none of it now as I have chronic pain but it's the best I've ever felt and best I've ever slept!)

You can buy the 'drowsy' antihistamines over the counter. It's what my GP told me to do when I couldn't sleep for other issues

Aww sorry I’m on the ‘top weight loss’ jab I’ll wait up talking to myself if booze or not it is freaky I’ll have conversations about bowels /‘strictures right through to having the coil out and I’ll be like what the f!!k.

Yesterday I beat my record 21k steps in a day but feel I paid overnight. Talking to myself in sleep and god knows what ever else.
