Day 1 of vape

So I've decided enough is enough. Smoked for god knows how long. So going to try a vape with the aim of eventually stopping altogether. But it's a bit confusing!

I've bought a vuse disposable as local shop had quite a few different ones. But is it better to use a refillable type? I remember years ago a friend got one but had to fiddle around with coils and what have. Is this still the case?

Yes it is. I've used these for years,it's not really fiddly once you get used to it.

Pop into your local vape shop, they're usually really good at explaining all your options.
When I have up smoking I started off part vaping and part smoking and I soon gave up the cigarettes quite easily. Good luck

Thanks for replies. Corner shop also seemed to have pods? Yes sort of tempted to buy one last pack. But I said that yesterday. Also issue so far today is there is no natural stop to the vape 😂 at least with a cigarette once it's finished that's it back inside you go!

How are you doing @mrsawhite ?

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/02/2023 21:35

I'd go to a vape shop and get some advice. I started with disposable ones but having a proper device was a game changer and I haven't had a cigarette since, that was around 6 years ago now. I lost my cough within two weeks and could run again.

mrsawhite · 20/02/2023 22:28

Oh it's been not very successful. I'm not sure why I get so irritable when I try just the vape. It's not like I'm missing out the nicotine. But have given in twice this last week. Sigh

Dont think of it as giving up. I got a Juul2 to cut down a bit to save money so i vaped and smoked and eventually id cut down to 2 a day without even realising and eventually binned them off. I really like the juul2 system. I have two devices so always have one charged and get my pods on prescription. I dont like the tobacco based pods, prefer menthol ones but i never got on with the ones needing liquid. Id forget to charge them, burn the coils, bastard things would leak and id shove it in a drawer and forget about it.

I don't smoke or vape but my brother did. He failed on the vape until a friend of his advised him to make sure the vape "draw" was strong enough to feel it. I suppose that means that if you vape and the nicotine content is not enough to give you a similar "hit" to a cig then it's not going to work.

Try something with a higher nicotine content and see how you get on. It worked for my brother, he was fine on the vape once he found a strength and flavour that satisfied him. He hasn't smoked since and is feeling bloody great, it is so good to see that.

mrsawhite · 21/02/2023 14:38

I'm not sure why I feel like I'm missing out. Guess just need to get used to it. It's a fairly high mg vape. The Vuse disposable one. I used to have a Juul one years ago actually

Recommendation: Lost Vape Ursa Nano (or the ‘Pro’ version). Rechargeable battery, and refillable pods. When the pod’s done you just replace that. Try nic salts and standard nic, most people prefer one over the other. With standard nicotine you get more ‘throat hit’ - to my mind it’s more cigarette-like, a slight harshness when you inhale, I prefer that personally.

mrsawhite · 22/02/2023 10:13

Yes I know why you mean I think it's the back of the throat hit feeling. Getting on better today. Didn't give in yesterday which I'm proud of. Meeting up with friends tonight for a drink which will be a test! What are nicotine salts? Never heard of them!

Nicotine ‘salts’ are just a sub-type of nicotine, as opposed to regular (or ‘freebase’) nicotine. Salt nic is smoother on the throat, so in some countries you can vape 50mg liquids. I think most disposables use salt nic, but you don’t get much info with them, so it’s difficult to know for certain. If you tried to vape 50mg freebase nic, you’d probably cough a lung up! But at lower levels, I think it gives a more cigarette-like throat hit than salt liquid. It does take a bit of willpower and perseverance to make the switch, you’re doing well, stick with it 😀

jellybombina · 10/07/2024 11:13

Making the switch from smoking is a big move, and I'm glad you're giving it a shot. I used to smoke too, and vaping helped me cut down. It's a process, so don't put too much pressure on yourself. Take it one day at a time and find what works best for you.

If you're ever looking for more info or tips, I highly recommend checking out ca.relxnow.com . They've got a ton of resources on different flavors, devices, and how to navigate the whole vaping scene. It's important to educate yourself and make informed choices.

Remember, quitting smoking is a positive step towards better health and well-being. Stay strong and stay motivated—you're on the right track!

Just want to say, well done for your next step in improving your life!

However, when you want to stop the vape - have you considered Nicotine pouches? VELO are ones I use; less damage to your internal organs (as we still don't know what is in vapes) but a good way to stop vaping.

That's where I am at, personally, with my journey.
