Smokers holding my baby

I have a 3 week old baby girl, I had no idea how worried I would be about EVERYTHING! One thing really playing on my mind is my partners family who are all smokers, holding my baby. I have asked they wait at least 10 mins after smoking, wash hands and change their top before holding my baby. Is this enough? Will she still breath in harmful toxins? And how do I deal with the possible backlash of them thinking I'm being over protective? Any advice? Thanks

Exactly what I asked my in laws to do as fil smoked very heavily and as dd was prem I didn’t want to stay there. It caused a massive argument as they refused to admit that passive smoking was a thing. I never told them I used to wash absolutely everything the second I got home even stuff we hadn’t worn.

Sorry no help or ideas as to how to deal with backlash but good luck and you’re doing the right thing.

I just hate the attitude we get for wanting the best for our babies, luckily my partner is supportive and has told them the deal. If they don't like it....tough! Good to know I'm not the only Mum that thinks like this, hope it all goes well for you and your baby x

It was a long time ago now, sadly both in laws passed away from smoking related illnesses 😢Sad
