Had to share this… too funny. Has anyone received any dubious cards?

Lol
though if I sent one to my Dad it would need to say
’to Dad and the woman he thought would meet all his needs but didn’t because it’s not possible’
which is not as catchy.

😂

Namerequired · 11/12/2024 23:06

That is hilarious 🤣

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/12/2024 23:07

So they change so often the sender can’t keep up?

purpleme12 · 11/12/2024 23:08

Wow 🙈🙊

Ja428 · 11/12/2024 23:10

That’s fucking weird!

NinaOakley · 12/12/2024 06:38

I kind of like that actually, especially for kid/adult who isn’t ready to say step mum!

Notateacheranymore · 12/12/2024 06:49

I became a stepdaughter when I was 25, just about 3 years after my Mum died, aged 45 due to cancer. My dad was the same age, and this past July he and my stepmum have been married for 23 years.

Although I refer to her, when speaking to those that don’t know her, as my stepmum/mother for simplicity, when I speak to her adult kids, I use her name. I’ve never called her Mum.

That card is vile, imo. On the occasions I do buy them a Christmas card, I buy ones that either say “To both of you” or “From both of us” ( my husband and I are childfree by choice). I’ve decided not to buy any this year. Stamps are now too expensive to send something that will be in the recycled paper and card bin by the second week of January!!

LetsNCagain · 12/12/2024 06:53

Before I got married to dh we used to receive "To Nephew and his Girlfriend" cards from his aunts which I always thought was pretty niche! Never seen them in the shops, they must have ordered them specially

FozzieWozzieWasABear · 12/12/2024 07:08

I love it but would have to add the words ‘and I loathe’ so maybe it’s not for me! 😂

Runnersandtoms · 12/12/2024 07:12

Not sure why it's necessary to have cards that specify a relationship on the front. Why wouldn't you just get a regular xmas card write 'To Dad and Joan'. ???

Me neither, I never came across them until I met my in laws, they love them! I've always bought charity cards with a generic christmassy picture on the front, usually a multipack

Misfitkickedoutonthestreet · 12/12/2024 07:49

Haha. I love this. My mum has been married to an odious pig for the last 25 years and I will still never EVER refer to him as my step- dad, only by his name if I really have to. This would be perfect for them.

rightoguvnor · 12/12/2024 07:49

Hideous
Just get a 'both of you' card

CrushingOnRubies · 12/12/2024 10:14

Reads likes a card you would send to Edward viii and Wallis Simpson.

BTTH · 12/12/2024 11:15

DSD is really into cards, so she gets each of us one and we each get her one. Their cards to each other are often slightly barbed eg she might get him a Christmas card suggesting he remembers the invention of Christmas cards in Victorian England, I'd get a funny card but without the suggestion I'm older than time. I'd also feel uncomfortable signing a card suggesting she was a financial liability but that's exactly the kind of card she'd want from her Dad.

And if her name isn't Joan it'll get the same point across that the card in the op does 😂

Whiskeyandkittens · 12/12/2024 14:10

My mum and stepdad have always sent really specific cards- before I married DH we got one saying "To Daughter And Her Partner" !
DH and I are the opposite, we choose cards for the design - and have been known to edit or cross out the relationship part on the front if it's a good enough card!), it's become a bit of a running joke!

🤣🤣 brilliant!

HaddyAbrams · 12/12/2024 14:32

Just showed this to DS (18). He said he'd have to buy one that said "To Father and the woman who convinced him she was more important than me" Sad

We always buy "proper" cards with Mum/Dad etc on in our family. It can take ages to find the right names and a meaningful message.

MeridianB · 12/12/2024 14:44

Awwww @HaddyAbrams 😟
