I think this is disgraceful and that children should not be exposed to it. She tells me her aunty (mums sister) taught her it. So I explained it’s only for grownups and she has to stop doing that dance (twerking) but didn’t make a big deal of it.

My partner told her mum to ask her sister not to do this anymore and she said “she taught her that ages ago” he was completely unimpressed that she knew about it, and she hasn’t said anything before now.

I spoke to two of my very closest friends who have children of the same age, and they think the children and being sexualised. We are a bit older than the 20 something mums so just wondering if I’m old and unfun. Or if this is unacceptable behavior?

I never got involved in disciplining my DSC unless it was something that personally affected me like being rude or throwing rubbish on the floor. You’ll have a great many battles over the coming years and this isn’t one I’d pick tbh. I’d save that for the stuff that impacts you personally.

I probably would have been drawn into explaining that it is rude but Cat is completely right that the following questions could have been very awkward and not really explainable to a four year old.

Generally, if my DSD (who is 9 now) is doing something like that, I tend to ignore it. The fun wears off if no one acknowledges what is happening.
