Can someone talk me down please! I feel awful.

Was on a walk with my DSC and one of them fell when going down a small slope to climb over a small stone wall at the bottom like they always do. They hit their head and there was tears and a bit of an egg on there now.

I feel really bad 😞 I know it was an accident but it's never happened when I've been alone with them before. I thought he'd seriously hurt himself at first.

Fwiw, he's laughing and playing about now and couldn't wait to show his dad his egg!

Has this happened to anyone else?!

It's happened to literally everyone who ever spends a significant amount of time with children since the beginning of time. It was an accident.

We had dc out last night. Ds was lying moaning all dramatic on the field. Bike beside him.

We carried on walking thinking he was faking..
He wasn't.

You didn’t do anything wrong. Do mention it on handover though.

My grandson fell on some concrete steps and gashed his eyebrow open - there was a lot of blood.

when I was cm at first ds was preschool & I cared for 2 other toddlers. I said once in front of ds when he fell over & had bump on head - thank goodness it was you - ahem - ds was v articulate & looked at me & said thanks mum! (He learnt sarcasm early!) Seriously you feel guilty enough when its your own dc - other peoples you feel even worse! (we use to have accident books for cm dc some rarely had a mention others had their own volume -my ds would have been one of those!.

My five year old broke his arm while out with the childminder, days before we were going on holiday.

He was as having fun and getting fresh air. Never risk free!

Don't feel bad

It always feel worse when it's not your child I think! But don't worry, kids are accident magnets it happens ALL the time. Short of wrapping them up in cotton wool and never letting them out of the house there is nothing you can do to avoid the off bump, scrape or egg on the head!

I have a clumsy 10 year old and 5 year old and there hasn’t been a day this week where one of them hadn’t grazed a knee or elbow.
My 10 yr old DD went flying over on her bike today.

My 7 year olds legs are a mass of cuts, scratches and bruises. He can’t seem to ride more than 100 m without hurting himself.

The number of apologies I had off his former nursery for eggs and gashes on his head was ridiculous but I know that’s just who he is. And where he gets it from as I cut my hand open on my walk today
