SD, 10 years old decided to be vegetarian

Am I being unreasonable to not want to cook 2 different meals for my 10 year old sd who has decided she wants to be vegetarian. She's very adamant about it. We are a family of 6, and meal times are busy enough. I hate the thought of now meal planning and cooking 2 different meals. Arghh! AIBU or should I just pull up my sleeves and do it. I do most of the cooking in our house. At the moment I've told my husband he can do her meals, I have bought vegetarian food for her and tonight I kept pasta aside for my husband to sort out her dinner but I felt bad.

I turned veggie at about that age. My mum made me learn to cook and I cooked every weekend for the whole family. Best thing she ever did. Support and life lessons.

This is a great idea. Your DH could teach her to cook veggie meal. As a bonus is good bonding time for them too!

@HeckyPeck she would love that too!

HeckyPecky - thanks for the overly dramatic bitchy comment!!

No it is not - sitting here with one diabetic child and one coeliac - it is a pain, at the start but like most people say - base meals - soon become adaptable with all the bits that one or tother can not eat. I coped fine with the diabtes but the coeliac diagnosis I could have cried over - much more complicated and some of the food really does taste shit!

It is the families responsibility to eat healthily not just the DH looking after a child who is there 50:50!

I have seen some superbly sensible comments on this forum and agreed with them - but I will not standby and see blatant piss poor stepparenting .

Not saying you are OP.
I am Mum and Step Mum muddling through
2 DCS who had evil SM and now have as far as I am concerned a great SM ! I have seen both sides.
