An Insite into my life (my first ever thread, more of a blog post)

Ok, so my name is Abigail and I'm a very young (not step mum) step mum. I say not step mum because me and their father aren't married, but they like to call me step mum. This is just a little snippet into my life and I felt I needed somewhere to vent with people who probably know where I'm coming from, as none of my friends even have their own kids, never mind someone else's!

Thanks for reading, and I hope to make some friends!oxoSmile

There's no blog, Abigail...
and it's 'Insight' by the way Grin

I've read this and your other post. I don't get why they call you 'stepmum', don't you think that's a bit formal? Like, it's actually more friendly and nicer if they just call you your name. Obviously if my step kids are describing me to someone else they say 'My stepmum' but when they talk to me I'm just my name.
It's like the difference between calling someone 'Aunt Kath' or just 'Kath'
I think the latter is much more friendly and loving, but maybe that's just me. If my step kids starting calling me step mum I would be worried I'd done something to make them feel more distant from me, not closer.

Each to their own though.

I have 2 step children and they just call me by my name in all situations. I've been in their life from an early ish age and for longer than when my husband and their mum were together. Its not always easy we just manage the situation. How are you getting on? How often do you have your partner's children staying with you.
