Can anyone recommend a useful step parenting book that deals with the emotional side of being a step parent? I'm really struggling to accept my DHs DCs and feel frustrated / resentful / angry and confused at myself that I cannot justify my feelings. Does anyone have a book or website that they felt really helped with issues such as these please?

Right - I've just tried to start a group on Facebook and it won't let me until I have people to add to it so if anyone that's wants to be part of it would PM me their email address, I think I can add you that way. It will be a closed group but not private I guess? I might call it StepMumsNet???!

Anna I've just friend requested you - can't see how to add you otherwise. It seems to want 'at least one friend' in the group. Hopefully you will suffice!

A great and simple book to help understand children - including step children of course is 'children are from heaven' by john grey - its not religious at all. (though the title is pretty stoopid! - surely if they are from anywhere kids have picked up tips from hell...) Wink
It really helped with my DSC in understanding what motivated them was very different to what motivated me - needless to say it also helped with my DC's and DH too. Bound to be some cheap copies on ebay.

Found this thread really helpful and I've just requested to join the FB group. It's tough sometimes and there's so little support!
