What do other SM do regarding this? My oh has one dsd who will be five in December and used to go to his exes house open presents there drive around opening presents at various other relatives with ex and dsd during the day and then have dinner with ex and in laws before taking dsd home with him. Now that we live together he won't be having dinner with them but do other SMs have the ex in their house for present opening etc?

I'm not a stepparent but I am a dsd. I'd have loved nothing more than to have my parents and stepparents together on Christmas Day, even for a half-hour drink as someone suggested. I didn't enjoy Christmas as a kid - my mum goes to my sister's so I went there in the morning and my dad picked me up before Christmas dinner. He and my stepmum had already eaten their Christmas meal so I never got to eat anything but a turkey sandwich and I had to rush through my presents so whichever parent I was with could watch. It wasn't much fun!

Oh definitely have to have Christmas dinner (although I suspect dsd will still have pizza or something of the sorts unless she has a new set of taste buds that aren't fussy) but I'm pretty sure we can handle a drink with mum and her family if we end up dropping her off for dinner (although would dsds mums parents be okay??? Since we're all mid 20s so the actual grown up parents still do Xmas dinner)
