Anyone else 50:50 over the summer holidays finding they now have to split 5 full weeks instead of 6?

We're planning next years holiday, and looking at dates, and realised the schools/county have sneakily shifted break up day to mid weeks, so the kids still get six full weeks off, but there's only 5 full weeks, making the 3 week then 3 week split even harder. Dss wants to do scout camp, we want 2 weeks away, so does his mum, but this shift means at least one has to give :( We thought something was odd but didn't twig last summer, but this is going to make life awkward.

Anyone else with this problem fancy joining me in solidarity and a grump?

yup drives me nuts too!! even worse when exw decides that she can't be parted from kids for 3 weeks so will only let us have them for 2 but then week 3 packs them off on camp for 10 days amd then back to us so actually she doesn't see them for nearly 4 weeks!

Yep, my DS's school does that too. And DSC are at a differnet school that has longer holidays but for reasons I can't fathom decide to start on pretty much the 1st September each year, so less than 6 weeks that they're all off. We're looking at doing a 7-9 day holiday next year as it's the only gap we have that fits wtih DP's ex's plans, my DD's school trip, and DSD's A level results. No idea where we're going yet, but the dates have been blocked out to stop anything else getting in the way.

That's what we're looking at so the boys can do scout trips and the girls lighthouse. Dss' mum is all for scout camp- so long as it doesn't interfere with her 2 week holiday. My xh wants two separate weeks. Now that will be a challenge! (Not if I can help it! He's an abusive piece of work)
