RL support?

Does anyone know of any meet up/support groups etc in real life for SMs? I tried Googling but can only find traditional mother & baby groups or stuff in the USA.

Would be nice to escape for a few hours whilst the DSCs are here with someone else who understands how tough this step-parenting lark is!

Maybe your local SureStart centre or community centre has a slot available that you could hold your own group in?
Not sure if someone trained in safeguarding would have to be present or not though..
But as a parent support group I think there's a massive gap in the market for a step parent support group.
I most certainly would join one even though I don't see mine any more. just for a whinge Grin

I'm nr Bolton & am feeling pretty close to telling DP to Foff with his double standards.

Any other SPs of 10yr going 20yr olds would be great. Our relationship is going downhill at the moment..and I know DP would pick me which pisses me off more!

I'd be interested in meeting up as well, but just wanted to let you know that there's a group called the British Second Wives Club that is specifically to support step-mums.

I've been to quite a few of the meets, and they're a really lovely bunch of people, very supportive, very frank, (but it's strictly no swearing on the forum Grin), and hugely helpful when it comes to dealing with step-issues (without anyone suggesting that it's none of your business because you aren't the mum, or must have been the OW or other such nonsense).

Thanks Mutton. I had looked at the website you mentioned but noticed the forums seemed even quieter than this one so was reluctant to pay for membership without being able to browse some of the threads first. The meets sound interesting though, how often do they happen?

LostLou Good Food Show sounds...erm...good! Would definitely be interested Smile

Good Food show sounds like a great plan.

The BSWC usually arranges a couple of meets a year, with more local ones happening more regularly. (Leeds is a fairly frequent one).

The boards can be quiet, but if someone posts for help they always get a good number of replies fairly quickly.
