Anyone else sick of a stepson earning the minimum wage and sitting around every evening and weekend playing xbox on computer. He lives with us as mother is an alcoholic

OP posts:
Petal02 · 20/11/2013 16:13

Sounds dreadful. Does he have friends, or interests?

JustAnotherFucker · 20/11/2013 16:19

Would he be allowed to play xbox if he was in a higher earning position Hmm

humphryscorner · 20/11/2013 16:21

I think your being out of order regarding the his wage! He is lucky to have a bloody job!

Where is he playing the xbox? If it's in his room it's n

humphryscorner · 20/11/2013 16:22

none of your business .

Mother being alcoholic is nothing to do with you either.

Mollydoggerson · 20/11/2013 16:22

He might be sick of you too Wink

JustAnotherFucker · 20/11/2013 16:23

I agree Petal Sounds dreadful.

I can't imagine having an alcoholic mother and a father who watches sport on TV continuously. How awful.

Ra88 · 20/11/2013 16:24

Why does his job matter ?? Atleast he has one !

purpleroses · 20/11/2013 16:26

Assuming the xbox is in his room, then I can't see the problem really - he's grown up, he's got a job, he's not very sociable maybe but that's not really your problem

I'd be more pissed of with a DH who was watching sport every evening and not interacting with either me or his DS.

TheMumsRush · 20/11/2013 17:30

My mother was an alcoholic until it killed her, it's was the single most toughest time of my life, (I was 23 when she finally died). It made me very unsocial as friends my age at that time were all about drinking Sad

ZombieMojaveWonderer · 20/11/2013 19:29

Jeez give the boy a break. At least he's not out smoking drugs and robbing grannies!!

Orangeanddemons · 20/11/2013 19:31

Most 18 year old boys sit around playing on the Xbox don't they? Mine did..

flowerpotgirl12 · 20/11/2013 19:50

At least he's workinh, would be worse if he wasn't working and sitting around all day as well. don't really see what the problem is.

Stepmooster · 21/11/2013 05:53

Well when I was 18 I had an alcoholic mother and a minimum wage job. Maybe he plays xbox cos he'd rather not go out with his mates boozing it up and spending it all getting rat-arsed?

Seriously your problem is your husband or his problem is he's married to someone who hates his son for earning minimum wage when many of his son's peers are probably unemloyed. Maybe he buries himself in the TV as an escape?

Take a look in the mirror or cut the plugs off the TV and xbox?

Hugs to themumsrush, been exactly in your shoes Thanks

Jemma1111 · 21/11/2013 06:09

Op, you sound absolutely delightful Hmm

TheMumsRush · 21/11/2013 10:33

Thanks stepmooster,

Mollydoggerson · 21/11/2013 12:49

Both the TV and the x-box aer escapes from reality aren't they? On a serious note why do both of them want to escape reality so much?

You cannot control them, only yourself, maybe you can set a good example by getting into lots of real stuff yourself - exercising, voluntary work. They both might join you if the atmosphere is good.

allnewtaketwo · 21/11/2013 17:11

OP does he contribute to the household either financially or household tasks?

dozeydoris · 25/11/2013 21:45

I'm sure he only sits on Xbox every evening and weekend after buying and cooking the evening meal, washing up and doing a bit of everyone's washing and ironing, tidying round and asking OP if she wants help with anything else first.
So OP is being v u.
