DP got down on one knee outside Manchester United's football ground yesterday just before the match. We got a round of applause. It was so lovely

Ah congratulations!!! How exciting making plans for a wedding. So lovely. What type of wedding do you think you'll have? Come tell all - venue, cake, dress etc. Smile

biglips · 08/05/2006 09:26

awww... fab! Grin congrats x

NotActuallyAMum · 08/05/2006 09:39

Thanks again Smile your good wishes really do mean a lot

We haven't decided anything for definite yet. I'd really like to go abroad, DP is fine with that but he wants his dd to be involved too. Don't know how many of you have read my recent threads but she's living with us now so I do of course fully understand that he wants her to be with us so we will probably take his dd and both sets of parents with us

I have been looking at dresses already even though it's not going to happen yet!! I'm determined I'm not going to spend an absolute fortune on one, I've been looking on ebay - there are loads at very good prices. I'll get one easily for £200 or slightly less

I would have loved New York but there's no way my dad will go there so I think Greece is looking promising Smile

pucca · 08/05/2006 10:07

Congratulations NAAM Smile

If you decide to get married in Greece, try and check the place out properly before hand, me and my now dh were going to get married in Crete, and on the internet and in the brochures it looked fab..but we went on a holiday and went to have a look and it wasn't so fab to see it in person iykwim.

Hmmm, don't know what to do now

A few people at work have also said this morning that weddings abroad are never as good as they look. And I've also been told that it's all over in just over 5 minutes. May have to have a rethink......

What a lovely thing to hear about on such a drab day!

Keep us posted with all the plans! Grin

FruitAndNutcase · 08/05/2006 10:51

OMG NAAM I am soooooooooooooo pleased for you............. Many Congratulations. That has totally made my day!!!!!!!!! I will hint to my DP tonight! Lol [she says dreaming again] Give my praise to DP for doing it soooooooo romantically and in public!!!!!!! Grin

FruitAndNutcase · 08/05/2006 10:56

As for getting married abroad............. In my honest opinion (from experience of friends that have done it) the best (and only) place is the Carribbean - expensive but apparently the most amazing! Grin

NotActuallyAMum · 08/05/2006 11:27

Thank you all again Grin

FANC that's buggered that plan then! No way can we stretch to that, and tbh even if we could I really don't want to go that far

I've been looking on \link{http://www.weddings-abroad.com\here}, I really, really like the look of the New York one - we could do it easily for £1,500. But, and it's a big but, no way would my Dad go there so we'd have to go on our own which DP doesn't want to do because of his dd

Really don't know what to do now. Not fretting about it though, we've got plenty of time to sort things out, it's not like we're in a hurry
