I know there are a few of us who did get some kind of recognition today but I thought I'd start a thread to say "Happy Mother's Day" to myself and to all those of you who pretend to be Mum all year round - yet who remain as invisible and underapprecited as every other shitty day of the year.

Well done and thank you for showing children that aren't yours as much love as you do your own even when they make it very difficult. Thank you for wiping noses, clearing up sick, buying new uniforms, washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning, providing shoulders to cry on, losing nights of sleep through worry, put plasters on cuts, playing hairdressers, accompanying SD's on evening runs when you're shattered, taxi driving, catering for groups of teenagers with 10 minutes notice, reminding their dad about parent's evening, homework, to realise when their children need extra support and generally enabling them to be a good Dad etc etc etc.....

Have a Wine or two from me.

(Lovely lunch with DD though. Counts blessings Grin)

For the first time in ages my ex took the boys out and got me cards and pressies. DS2 made me a beautiful card that bought tears to my eyes so I was happy yesterday.
I got nothing from the steps. Not surprised really - I'm out of sight out of mind when they aren't at our house.
Sad

OP made me cry!!
I have three SCs...SS (15) lives with us full time and DSD an DSS (13 and 8) come to stay every other weekend.
On mothers day I got a card from DSD and younger DSS...with flowers and chocolates.
And NOTHING from SS...no hug or anything. It's still upsetting me as his mom has pretty much washed her hands of him...
I dunno, struggling with step mum status when it comes to SS (15) at the moment...Sad

oh Finnbar have some unMN {{hugs}}

I know how though it is to be a full time SM but I think your SS is just being a moody teenager. It's brilliant that the younger ones have thought of you.

I'm dreading the teenage years with my resident DSD11

Just dont get it. We ended up having a row night before last. Just because I asked him to help me clean the kitchen! It ended up not being about the fact he wouldn't help me clean the kitchen but the way he spoke to me! I explained how much it hurt that the other two had made an effort, and theyre hardly here!!! And then again last night! I accidentally damaged his headphones and he screamed in my face. I've woken up this morning to a letter requesting I replace damaged headphones signed his full name!!!? Sad
He just makes me cry and so sad alot of the time Sad

You are going to need to try and detach from him a bit.

Why don't you start a thread about it and some other SM with teenagers will be able to come along and help.

Oh and ignore his demands !
