Step parents take on other people's children when they're already grown. I took on my nephew as my own last year when he was nine. Is this the forum for me, or is there a specific forum for "kinship carers/foster carers/adopted family members" I'm new to Mumsnet.

step parents also take on children when they are little too although perhaps 'take on' isn't quite the correct phrase but for the life of me, i cannot think if another one!
