I want to love the World Cup this year, but it seems a bit 'meh'

Please let it get exciting in the next round.

GypsyMoth · 17/06/2010 20:51

GypsyMoth · 17/06/2010 20:52

so far it has been a mixture of dullness and slightly odd results

I am not gripped by football fever just yet, it's fair to say

nancy75 · 17/06/2010 20:54

the first games are always abit boring, little teams just defend against the big teams, so the gamea are never that great and this year the bloody vuvu horns are ruininng it for me - i like to hear the crowd singing

poppy34 · 17/06/2010 21:06

Vuvuzuelas don't seem as loud tonight- dramatique is the word here on French tv

Ingles2 · 17/06/2010 23:09

I'm really into it early this time..
There's been so many shocks, The Swiss, the fouls, the Mexicans, it's been so fantastic and so unpredictable.
and as for France tonight...bloody hell, dreadful play.
ds1, a staunch Arsenal supporter, which is interchangeable with the French team of course, sat with his head in his hands it's given us loads to talk about.

ErnestTheBavarian · 18/06/2010 00:01

Agree totally with Ingles.

It's been great.

What did go through that Nigerian's mind when he attacked the Greek player? Just totally bizarre and unprovoked. And he seemed to surprised to get a red card!

Hop Schwiez!

Ingles2 · 18/06/2010 07:41

I know Ernest..knee jerk reaction.Literally.I think he was surprised.

ErnestTheBavarian · 18/06/2010 13:20

Klose sent off, Gemany 1-0 down at half time

Ingles2 · 18/06/2010 13:24

I know!!!!
incredible!
and I'm listening to Chris Moyles commentary which is funny.
I'm meant to be working FGS!

ErnestTheBavarian · 18/06/2010 13:29

I've got the BBC on - "the Keeper's a tart (for falling over)" (serbian keeper) bloody spanish ref. Am surprised how supportive of the German team the commentary is

Ingles2 · 18/06/2010 14:34

you should have heard Chris Moyles... desperate for Germany not to win ..

CatIsSleepy · 18/06/2010 17:53

woah germany lost

ErnestTheBavarian · 18/06/2010 18:40

And USA draw again - 2-2

Def not meh.

This World Cup is mental

marge2 · 18/06/2010 20:59

Ingles2 too - so totally know where your DS1 is coming from. My Mad Goonerest of Gooner brothers is exactly the same. He is on a gap year at the mo in .....Brazil - actually .... and even though he is an absolute England fan he was devastated with 'Francenal's performance. WHY oh WHY didn;t they get Thierry on, then???? What was that daft french manager on? It looked like he couldn't give a stuff didn't it?. Never mind. I'm sure Bro' will cheer up when Brazil win and he gets to celebrate.

Plus I have France in the works sweepstake, which seemed like a stroke of luck when they did the draw. Not so sure now.!

Ingles2 · 18/06/2010 22:15

god knows Marge... the dodgy hand of Henri I guess
I'm taking all of this far far too seriously... I need to eat more choc, drink more wine and relax
as I say to Ds1 every Saturday
It's just a game!
(mind you Ds1 and his team won his league!)
