Thought there might be a thread on here?

My DH - a massive rugby fan - is gripped. He says the standard of rugby has been phenomenal.

My dh says the same.

JenniferandJuniper · 27/09/2025 17:49

Fabulous game to watch, great rugby. Well done England

Buildingthefuture · 27/09/2025 17:52

Fantastic result! So pleased for them 🥰🥰🥰

StayJammy · 27/09/2025 17:54

Gutted I couldn't get tickets.

My daughter is aiming to ref the WOrld Cup final in 2028

wantmorenow · 27/09/2025 18:01

Absolutely. Was tremendous. 🎉

StrongLikeMamma · 27/09/2025 18:22

C’mon The Roses!! Awesome game 🙌🙌🙌🎉🎉🎉🏆🌹Feeling emotional here 💛💛💛

StrongLikeMamma · 27/09/2025 18:23

Women showing the boys how it’s done again 👏🙌

RockaLock · 27/09/2025 18:25

That was a great game! And obviously a tremendous result 🏆 🌹 🎉

But, I can’t help thinking - where was the the Princess of Wales? Where was the PM?

Mark Carney made it all the way from Canada, but our PM and our patron of the English RFU couldn’t make it from London to Twickenham? I think that is pretty disgraceful!

Yes, I know the PoW was at the semi final, and maybe some other matches, but come on. To not have any senior dignitaries there, honestly, it’s rubbish, and insulting to our amazing women’s team.

AllJoyAndNoFun · 27/09/2025 18:32

Not sure what I’m enjoying more- winning the World Cup or watching the gammons spitting feathers in the telegraph comments section 🤣🤣

Totally agree! Said exactly same to DH

i know Keir Starmer is at labour party conference rather than in London but they couldn't rustle up one member of the royal family? I mean isn't that kind of what they're for?

TheNightingalesStarling · 27/09/2025 16:48

DH and DD there.
I have a feeling DD will be having the time of her life right now.

Wow! Fantastic! What a memorable day for her!

Did any member of the royal family manage to attend? I didn’t see anyone!

Yes, utterly gripped! Kildunne and Botterman are my faves. Go ladies 💪❤️ Pissed off that they don’t get paid anywhere near what the men get though 🤬

Too right 👍

Sorry! Just posted the very same question before reading your post!

Absolutely disgraceful if no member of the RF made it!

Princess of Wales sent a message apparently. Maybe she is not well?

But for not one member of the RF to turn up to support England’s women and watch a Commonwealth country is just pitiful frankly! And I agree, bordering on insulting!

Esp with it being their third time lucky win!

I hope there's girls inspired to give Rugby a try after this, both in England and the rest of the UK and world. Girls Rugby is really growing at the moment and its really welcoming to everyone

Yes I imagine the legacy will be immense! The standard of play was so high!

It's a bit ambitious, but look out for 2032 😁

Sickoffamilydrama · 27/09/2025 20:30

Think this will drive even more girls to play, I've really seen the change with my daughter's generation, I didn't know anyone that played when I was her age but now loads of girls do.

I would have loved that kind of physical outlet at a teen.

The only reason I even knew about it WRWC was supporting DD to join the local team. My family never really watched sport but I've really enjoyed watching the matches.

She really wants to play, referee or coach professionally and is currently training with school or her team 4 times a week. I've told her I want to see her in 4/8 years time on the field 🙏🏉

Weepingwillows12 · 28/09/2025 08:58

I went to the match. Atmosphere was great and loved seeing England celebrate. Those girls deserve it for coping with the pressure of a home world cup with proper attention for the first time. Also really loved the Canada team. They came round signing stuff and doing photos. They played so well in this tournament - I really hope this secures them some proper funding.

Canada were fantastic opponents! Yes, I hope they and all the other great teams get the funding they deserve now! Advertisers and sponsors can’t ignore an 82,000 turn out just in the stadium!

I went to the opening game knowing nothing about any of it, simply because it was nearby and tickets were cheap and I wanted to support women’s sport - I’ve been absolutely hooked ever since! The work ethic and camaraderie even between teams is so inspiring.

I was crying my eyes out for Meg Jones, I lost both my parents at a young age in similar circumstances, and what she’s gone through in the last 12 months for it to culminate in this is mind blowing and heartbreaking - she must have been feeling so many things all at once.

I’m sure I heard Gaby say that coverage of club matches will start on iPlayer soon so I’m looking forward to following those now 😄 🌹 🏉

ChicOliveCritic · 28/09/2025 13:39

Yesterday's game was fantastic!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🌹🥳 It's disappointing that a prominent member of the royal family wasn't in attendance. It's also a shame that todays parade isn't at Buckingham Palace. I do understand that football has greater prominence in this country than rugby but this was the WORLD Cup.

takethesebrokenwingsandlearntofly · 28/09/2025 13:46

I was lucky enough to go to the final- it was phenomenal and the passion and skill far exceeded any male
Rugby I have seen.

Ellie was exceptional!
