Football / rugby boots help

Hi all, my DS8 is starting a school rugby team and has been asked to buy a pair of football or rugby boots. For those who already have them, they can carry on using what they have irrespective of whether they're for firm, multi or soft ground. As we need to buy new we've been told soft ground, but are struggling to find any decent ones (other than plain black). For firm ground there seems to be hundreds of choice. Is there really that much difference or do we definitely need to buy soft ground ones? For reference, I think they'll mainly be playing and training on the school field. Tia.

Soft ground boots have longer studs which will give better grip in the winter. Sports Direct have dozens of options from relatively cheap own brand ones to expensive ones endorsed by various football players. I do suggest going & trying on in a shop if you can as different makes have slightly different shapes and sizing so one style might fit your DS better than another. You tend to need to go up a size with football boots.
They’re pretty rare these days but don’t get screw in studs.

Check the rules around studs, metal studs not allowed in ds league when he was younger.

You will need to try them on as it can be difficult to get right for wide or narrow feet.

For football I have never bought soft ground boots, always multi or firm.
