Football club u7

My 6 year old attends fun club sessions at a local football club on a Thursday night every week for a year now. He really enjoys it. Coaches are now thinking of creating an u7 team and have picked a few kids from the funclub including my son to join extra training, hopefully leading to being on a team.

My son joined one training session, but afterwards said he preferred the fun club sessions as his school friends are there as well.
But coach seems to really want him to be part of the future u7 team from Sept.
I'm happy for my son to continue to play casually and not be attached/committed to a team, as it's more flexible and enjoyable for him.
Should I push my son to be part of a team and listen to coach? Or go with what my son is comfortable with?

Will the fun club sessions definitely continue? At my kids’ club they do a fun one for that age group but it all moves to proper teams from U7’s. It depends on your child if it continues and he wants to stick with it then I’d do that but I’d explain it’s likely all his mates will eventually join a proper team. I think it’s better to not have school mates in their footie team to be honest - another friendship group is always a good thing.

Can he do both? Usually the fun sessions fizzle out ones the teams start forming. Having a second set of friends is always a good thing.
