Wimbledon tickets tomorrow - alcohol questions!

I’ve been invited at short notice and am extremely excited - court 1 ticket tomorrow. Done some googling and looked at FAQs but some of the info out there is contradictory or not detailed enough so can anyone advise please?

I have a bottle of champagne left over from my wedding BUT - does it have to be screw-top; can we take it into the court; can we use disposable wine glasses (not covered beakers)

I realise I should have scoured the crowds more closely to see what people do but if anyone can answer these important alcohol questions definitively, that would be great and I can get on with planning the rest of the day 😁

Yes you can take it and glasses, and drink on the court, https://www.wimbledon.com/enGB/atoz/foodanddrinkfaq.html

I think there is a limit on bottle size. Certainly there were corks popping on no.1 earlier this week.

PimmsAhoy · 06/07/2024 15:34

Thanks @Peonies12 I did see that but wasn’t sure what the “authorised areas” were and if it includes the court. I think though as @LIZS says you hear corks as I’m sure one of the umpires commented on it this week!

It’s very last minute for me so I’m in a bit of a fluster but I suppose how wrong can it go? If I have to neck a bottle on the way in then that is what I will have to do 🤷‍♀️

I can't imagine you would be allowed glass.

KevinDeBrioche · 06/07/2024 15:41

One bottle or two cans per person. Plastic glasses absolutely fine. Bad form to pop corks during points or even during games imo, do it before play / end of sets / at the change of ends

enjoy! I went Thursday, it was brilliant

No glasses on showcourts but plastic ok. There is a list of prohibited items too.

PimmsAhoy · 06/07/2024 15:47

Brilliant - thanks all; Champagne and plastic glasses it is then.

Weather forecast is not great but I absolutely can’t wait! Can now get on with working out the rest of the Plan

How lovely for you! I would take the bottle plus a bottle stop, so you can open it before the match but not have to drink it in one go 😁

And probably a sleeve to go around the bottle/cool bag!

PimmsAhoy · 06/07/2024 16:07

@Floboe great reminder, thank you! I do have a stopper specifically for fizzy bottles so will definitely put it in

@PimmsAhoy when we went on centre court they made us pop the cork before entering - we had a fantastic day - enjoy!

PimmsAhoy · 06/07/2024 17:26

Thanks @ChateauProvence - that is helpful to know! I’ve dug out the bottle stopper so we are ON
