They’ll have seen what happens when England loses and the abuse that individuals (and their family) can get. Almost better to lose then be the one who takes a risk that may win a game but if it goes wrong lead to ridicule or threats.
Remember the vitriol directed at players who missed penalties, shouts to players that their families should get cancer.
It doesn’t happen in the same way at club level from your own fans.
