Can't find a thread so thought I'd start one nice and early for some pre chat.

Really don't think either England or Wales are going to get out of the pool rounds 🙁

I think I'm too nervous to watch 🇮🇪 🇳🇿 tonight 😬 - but obviously will.
See you on the other side @GrouchyKiwi!

Neutral tonight so I can relax and hope for an epic game

greenacrylicpaint · 14/10/2023 19:56

love love LOVE the choir.

such a lovely touch

AndNobbyDancing · 14/10/2023 19:58

Love the Irish passion. Really feel it means something.

Disappointment at the jeering in the silence. Also noted the un sportsman celebration of some children in the Wales game. The crowd need reminding This Is Rugby.

KnickerlessParsons · 14/10/2023 20:00

What happened? I only managed to watch the second half.

Jaco Peyper was refing and had to go off with an injury about 20/30 mins in. The English guy was running the line and stepped in as ref.

I can't look🙈🇮🇪☘️💚🏉

KnickerlessParsons · 14/10/2023 20:01

Absolutely gutted for Cymru, but they didn't play well enough to win. Too many injuries amongst the senior players and they messed up the line out too many times.

There's a lot more booing in rugby lately and it makes me sad.

I'm trying to pretend it's just a friendly match so I can enjoy it. Not working.

AndNobbyDancing · 14/10/2023 20:23

Thanks @KnickerlessParsons I don't think I've ever seen that either (although I have seen a defib used on a ref in the Bar after a match. Thankfully he survived)

Agree Kiwi it is a real shame

GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2023 20:34

Ireland has woken up, alas. I was feeling a lot less stressed 15 minutes ago. Wink

GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2023 20:40

Nooo. Not a yellow card. Silly boy, Aaron.

MainlyOnThePlain · 14/10/2023 20:41

Every time Wayne Barnes does that TMO rectangle sign, I want to shout, 'it's a TV programme! How many syllables?'

Ha! I've often said the same - and called him Lionel Grin

user1496146479 · 14/10/2023 20:44

Such a tight game!!

algasport · 14/10/2023 20:47

These teams are just wow!
A huge level up from England, Wales, Scotland.

Abhannmor · 14/10/2023 20:51

Wayne Barnes....a collective shudder ran through Ireland when he was announced as ref 😱. Shame they can't clone Nigel Owens.

Why can't he ref the line out ffs?
Never mind we are still world hurling champions 😂 ☘

GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2023 20:51

I have found a compromise and I'm watching with the sound off.

It's so close, but Ireland has a wee advantage starting the next half with Smith off for 6 more minutes.

Maybe @algasport . But Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 are still better than some teams who made the QF. The groups are a joke.

algasport · 14/10/2023 20:58

@Abhannmor
Definitely!
The seedlings were done far too early.
Hopefully that won't happen again.

algasport · 14/10/2023 20:59

Haha seedings not seedlings!

greenacrylicpaint · 14/10/2023 21:03

as always with tournaments like that the draws should be repeated with each round.

KnickerlessParsons · 14/10/2023 21:03

What's a 50 22?

OP posts:
GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2023 21:09

That's quite a hairstyle on Ireland's 1.

algasport · 14/10/2023 21:16

@KnickerlessParsons
If you kick the ball from your own half (50m) line and it bounces inside the opposition 22m before going off the pitch then you keep the line-out.
